Diary of the Dead, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Diary of the Dead
Movie Count: 34
TV Ep Count: 8
Time Started: 8am
Plot:
From legendary frightmaster George A. Romero comes "one of the most daring, hypnotic and absolutely vital horror films of the past decade" ('fangoria.com'). Romero continues his influential "Dead" series, this time focusing on a terrified group of college film students who record the pandemic rise of flesh-eating zombies while struggling for their own survival. Intensely gruesome and relentlessly grisly - fueled by the director's signature realistic special effects - 'Diary of the Dead' is must-see horror that "is Romero at his finest" ('bloody-disgusting.com').

My Thoughts:
I probably shouldn't have... but I went into this one with high expectations. I mean come on... a Zombie movie with Romero's name on it? Right there tells you to expect a great movie... at least in my eyes. And this was a really enjoyable movie. I liked most of what was done here. But I was just expecting more. Maybe I was expecting a little too much I don't know... but I got left with just a slight case of "that's it?" feeling afterwards. I mean I am happy with it... but I think it could have been better.

Pineapple Express, a review by Dragonfire

Pineapple Express

I have some issues with Seth Rogen, but I have still seen several of his movies.  I decided to watch Pineapple Express when I found it on one of the movie channels I get.  I think it was one of the Encore channels.

The plot is fairly straight forward even with the attempts at complication that turn up.  The main characters are stoned out of their minds most of the time and that does impair their judgement.  There are some very funny scenes in the movie, but there are also some attempts at humor that just don't work.  There is violence in some scenes, some of which is a little graphic.  Rogen's character is involved in a rather disturbing relationship.  None of the characters are that interesting or likable.

I've seen that the movie is available on DVD and Blu-ray.  I have no idea what sort of extras they might have.  I'm really not interested in finding out and I highly doubt I'd ever add this one to my collection.

The movie has a few entertaining and funny moments, but it isn't enough overall.

I did get a review posted on Epinions.

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed the first season of this series. So of course I bought the second one. But after watching a few episodes I just couldn't get into it. I stopped watching after half of the season and it took me over three years to finally start watching it again and finish it off. Only because I constantly see the third season for a really good price and I thought I should give it a further chance. But I just didn't like it and it looks like I will stop this series here.
This series is just too fake looking. With dull and "fake" characters and boring stories. The new character are uninteresting. Added to that Jennifer Love Hewitt just isn't good to look at here. Just too much make-up and very unflattering clothing. Looks like she got herself a little bit of a big butt which clashes with her stick-thin figure and the costume designer tried to hide this fact with horrible result.
Fun to see was that Tom Wilson (Biff from BTTF) had a regular guest spot on a series which is shot on the same "Courthouse Square" back lot on which BTTF was shot. But in this series they used this back lot badly. They shot almost every outside scene there which made it look like everything was happening on the same street.
