The King's Speech, a review by Dragonfire

The King's Speech

I finally had the chance to see this one last month.  It did take a while for the movie to come to the theater here in town.  I think I actually saw it on one of the last days it was here.  I think it was only at the theater for 2 or 3 weeks.  Anyway, I'm glad I managed to see it because it is a really good movie and definitely worth seeing.

The story about how Prince Albert - later King George VI - worked to deal with his stutter is interesting and I think it made for an entertaining movie.  Not everyone feels the same though.  I know of at least a few people who saw it and thought it was boring.  I did know that King Edward VIII abdicated the throne before seeing this movie, but I didn't know anything about King George VI or his stutter.

The cast is amazingly good, especially Colin Firth.  He's wonderful in the part and definitely deserves the awards he's won for the performance.  Helena Bonham Carter is really good too.  This is probably the most normal part I've seen her play.  Geoffrey Rush also does a good job as Lionel Logue, the speech therapist.

Overall, I really enjoyed the movie and think it is definitely worth seeing.

I did get a longer review posted on Epinions.

My Thoughts:

This is an entertaining film.... I liked the characters and the storyline. This one is based on not one... but 2 true stories. The life of Julia Child as well as on Julie Powell. An inspiring writer who wrote a blog about making all the recipes in the Julia Child cook book in one year. The one thing I didn't care for is Julia Child's reaction to what Julie was doing. But I guess it can't always go as expected when what you are watching is a true story... as life does not always go good. Worth the time put in to watch it.... though there is better movies out there.

Angel Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Angel: Season 4

6. Spin the Bottle
Original Air Date: 11/10/2002
When Lorne performs a spell on Cordelia to restore her memory, it inadvertently causes the gang to revert back to their high school personas and leaves them with no memories of each other. Eventually, they discover that the only way to reverse the spell is to kill a vampire, just as Angel realizes that he is one.

No One Worth Noting

My Thoughts:
This one is a lot of fun to watch. I really enjoyed every second of it. After a spell gone bad... all the main characters gets turned back to their teen-aged selves. Of course we are familiar with Cordelia's character as we seen it in Buffy. But it was pretty fun to see the rest.  The episode is definitely worth a chuckle or two.
