Son of Dracula (1943), a review by addicted2dvdSon of Dracula (1943) Carpathian Count Alucard is invited to the U.S. by a young "morbid" heiress (Katherine Caldwell). Her boyfriend (Frank Stanley) and local officials are suspicious of the newcomer, who is interested in the "virile" soil of the new world. My Thoughts: To me this is just an OK sequel. I enjoyed it well enough I guess... but it just wasn't as good as the previous ones. Count Alucard is played by Lon Chaney, Jr. and in my opinion... he is much better as The Wolf Man then he is as Dracula. Quality wise I have no complaints what so ever. Both the audio and the video is in very good condition. (From Classic Monster Movie Marathon on May 18th, 2008) Clash of the Titans, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Sam Worthington as Perseus Liam Neeson as Zeus Ralph Fiennes as Hades Jason Flemyng as Calibos/Acrisius Gemma Arterton as Io Alexa Davalos as Andromeda Plot: In Clash of the Titans, the ultimate struggle to power pits man against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can sieze power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, Perseus and his warriors will only survive if Perseus accepts his power as a god, defies fate, and creates his own destiny. Extras:
My Thoughts: The original Clash of the Titans from 1981 has always been an old favorite of mine. When I first heard they were remaking it... once I got passed the initial thought of Why? I hoped they would do it well. And to me doing a remake well means walking a fine line of changing and updating enough to make a remake exciting.... while at the same time keeping the main storyline so that you can see just enough similarities to know the story they are remaking. In my opinion they did a fine job on this... amping up the action helped in this. While I think I may still prefer the original... I definitely can see myself rewatching this one as well. Definitely worth the time put in to watch it. I am glad I finally got around to checking this one out.My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Unwatched DVDs on June 22nd, 2013) Tom's Buffy and Angel Marathon, a review by Tom20. The Yoko Factor (2000-05-09) Writer: Doug Petrie (Writer) Director: David Grossman Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers), Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Seth Green (Oz), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Marc Blucas (Riley Finn), James Marsters (Spike), Amber Benson (Tara), Leonard Roberts (Forrest Gates), Conor O'Farrell (Colonel McNamara), George Hertzberg (Adam), Emma Caulfield (Anya), David Boreanaz (Angel), Bob Fimiani (Mr. Ward), Jade Carter (Lieutenant) A good episode. It is a good idea that Spike tries to split the Scoobies up by creating a rift between them. Though in my opinion this happened too easily.
