Video: Widescreen 2.35:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: N/A Stars: Ally Sheedy Steve Guttenberg Fisher Stevens Austin Pendleton G. W. Bailey Brian McNamara Plot: Steve Guttenberg and Ally Sheedy co-star in this high-tech comedy adventure about Number Five, a robot who escapes into the real world after he short-circuits in an electrical storm and decides that he's human. Because he's carrying destructive weapons, the Defense Department and his designer (Guttenberg) are desperate to find him. But Number Five is being protected by a young woman (Sheedy) who is teaching him a gentler way of life. Extras: Scene Access My Thoughts: This is a movie I haven't seen in many years! So much so that going into it all I could remember is brief bits and pieces of the movie. I am so thrilled I finally added to this one to my collection. It is still a lot of fun. And I must admit... Johnny Five was right about one thing... Ally Sheedy... Nice Software! The movie definitely held up great for me. There was several times I literally laughed out loud. Unfortunately the DVD Release leaves some to be desired. It could be worse.... at least it is in widescreen... but there is absolutely no extras on this what so ever. Not even trailers for other movies let alone a trailer for this. Which makes me very upset considering I just got this and I now find out there is indeed a special Edition out for this movie for only a few dollars more then what I paid for this one! My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From My Alphabet Marathon Reviews on July 10th, 2010) Miracle on 34th Street, a review by TomTitle: Miracle on 34th Street Year: 1994 Director: Les Mayfield Rating: PG Length: 114 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Surround, English: Dolby Digital 5.0, French: Dolby Digital Surround Subtitles: English, Spanish Stars: Richard Attenborough Elizabeth Perkins Dylan McDermott J.T. Walsh James Remar Plot: In this new holiday "miracle" based on the famous 1947 film classic, a little girl discovers dreams can come true if you really believe. Six-year-old Susan has doubts about childhood's most enduring miracle - Santa Claus. Her mother told her the "secret" about Santa a long time ago, so Susan doesn't expect to receive the most important gifts on her Christmas list. But after meeting a special department store Santa who's convinced he's the real thing, Susan is given the most precious gift of all - something to believe in. Starring Richard Attenborough, Elizabeth Perkins, Dylan McDermott and Mara Wilson as Susan, this uplifting and joyous film will make believers out of the entire family. Awards:
Extras: Closed Captioned Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: I thought I should now just finish off the Christmas movie boxset while I was at it. This is the final movie in this boxset. And the main reason that I have bought it. I think this remake of the classic is very well done. I like it at least just as much as the original. Richard Attenborough is just perfect for the role of Kriss Kringle.Rating: (From December Marathons - DISCUSSION AND REVIEW THREAD on December 19th, 2009) The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ DoenaWhat's the show about? The sitcom revolves around the lives of three physicists, one engineer and one waitress. The two physicists Sheldon and Leonard live across the hall from Penny the waitress. Leonard is in love with Penny but she hasn't responded yet. Sheldon and Leonard are often visited by their friends Rajesh and Howard (the latter one being the engineer) and when their world clashes with Penny's hilarity ensues. "Pilot" Leonard and Sheldon have just aborted a high IQ sperm donation when they discover that they have a new neighbour: Penny, a waitress at "The Cheesecake Factory". When Penny takes a shower in their apartment (and hopefully doesn't discover the Darth Vader shampoo or the Luke Skywalker conditioner) she asks Leonard for a favour... My Opinion One of my favourite sitcoms of all time. The five are so hilarious together with Sheldon being the heyday of most episodes. Sheldon is totally unaware of his rudeness and his arrogance and it's great fun to watch him and the others. I can't wait for the third season to begin next week and I am glad that the network has already ordered a fourth season. (From The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon on September 17th, 2009) |
