Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 5.1, Commentary: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround Subtitles: English, French Stars: Adam Sandler Kate Beckinsale Christopher Walken David Hasselhoff Henry Winkler Julie Kavner Plot: A harried workaholic, Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) doesn't have time for his wife (Kate Beckinsale) and children, not if he's to impress his ungrateful boss and earn a well-deserved promotion. So when he meets Morty (Christopher Walken), a loopy sales clerk, he gets him to bypass life's little distractions with increasingly hysterical results. But as Michael gleefully mutes, skips and scans past his family and his friends, the remote gradually takes over his life and begins to program him, in this fast, funny and out-of-control comedy adventure. Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Bonus Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Closed Captioned My Thoughts: I seen this on cable a while back... and always wanted to add it to my collection eventually. Luckily it is one of the discs that was in one of the latest boxes of DVDs that were given to me. While it has a few slow spots... I mainly find this one very entertaining. It gave me quite a few good laughs. I am glad I finally got this one in my collection. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on November 27th, 2010) Centurion, a review by AchimCenturion (2010) I watched Centurion at the cinema today. It tells the story of a Legion of Roman Soldiers (they mention that that's about 3000) pushing north in England and being decimated by a group of Picts (early Scots...?). A small group of survivors (7) will have to find a way back south before the scouts of the Picts find and kill them. Before that, however, they want to go rescue their captured general. Based on a true legend (my words, not theirs) the film is much slower than I had expected from a Neil Marshall film. There is a couple of scenes where he used buckets of blood and gore, some of it is concealed with fast cutting though. Somehow the film failed to properly get me emotionally close to the main character(s), which made the final "battle" less involving than it should have been. A story worth telling for sure, not sure if it will grant repeated viewings though. Lewis Cast: Paul Gross (Constable Benton Fraser), David Marciano (Detective Ray Vecchio), Beau Starr (Lt. Harding Welsh), Daniel Kash (Detective Louis Gardino), Tony Craig (Detective Jack Huey), Catherine Bruhier (Elaine), Red Green (Hamish), David Calderisi (Vecchio Sr.), Gordon Pinsent (Fraser Sr.), Andrew Jackson (Hogan), Kevin Rushton (Hunter), Brian Smegal (Jack), Barry Stilwell (Cop), Ramona Milano (Francesca (uncredited)) A good start into the new season. It follows up on Ray's promise in the last episode. This episode perfectly shows how far their friendship has come. Rating: 2.02 Vault (1995-11-07) Writer: Paul Haggis (Created By), Jeff King (Story By), Paul Haggis (Story By), Kathy Slevin (Story By), Kathy Slevin (Screenwriter) Director: Steve DiMarco Cast: Paul Gross (Constable Benton Fraser), David Marciano (Detective Ray Vecchio), Beau Starr (Lt. Harding Welsh), Daniel Kash (Detective Louis Gardino), Tony Craig (Detective Jack Huey), Catherine Bruhier (Elaine), Ramona Milano (Francesca), Camilla Scott (Inspector Margaret Thatcher), Christina Cox (Morgan), Scott Gibson (Ovitz), Boyd Banks (Norm), Vince Corazza (Lenny), Nicholas Kilbertus (Harold), David Crean (Cooper), Ken Quinn (Mountie Will), Michael Maiola (Damian), Marc Donato (Little Kid) A great episode. Fun interactions between Ray and Fraser in the Vault. More screentime for Francesca. And the introduction of Fraser's new boss Inspector Thatcher. I always liked her character in the second season. Sadly with beginning of season 3 she is only bitchy (and with a bad new hairstyle). Rating: (From "Due South" marathon on August 9th, 2009) |
