House 2: The Second Story, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: House 2: The Second Story Movie Count: 41 TV Ep Count: 15 Time Started: 4:30pm Plot: Jesse and his girlfriend inherit a mysterious family mansion and soon discover that his 170-year-old great-great-grandfather has been brought back from the dead by the supernatural powers of an ancient Aztec skull. But when the skull is stolen and Gramps turns into a party animal, Jesse and his friends must travel through time to get it back. Now, with the help of an electrician familiar with alternate dimensions, a sleazy record company executive, automatic weapons, zombie cowboys, a confused caveman and some very odd monsters, this ultimate HOUSE party gets totally out of control! My Thoughts: Brittany was now ready to watch some movies... so thought we would start with the "House" movies. I really enjoyed this one a lot... it is hard for me to believe... but I actually think I like this one a little more then I do the first one! I think that is mostly due to the character Gramps. He was just a blast to watch. The only extras on this disc is the Theatrical Trailer and a Commentary Track... which I didn't listen to yet... will save that for another time. Now, he's escaped and determined to practice -AGAIN. Resettling in the tiny farm town of Paradise, the good doctor conveniently disposes of the local dentist and he's open for business! within moments of wielding a scalpel on his first patient, he is transformed into his former deranged self. The more patients Alan sees, the more brutal his cleaning techniques become. When a few residents suspect something peculiar about the town's new dentist, Alan vows to treat them all before they drill up his chilling past. My Thoughts: Every since I heard of the first Dentist movie coming out I thought it was a good idea as it plays on a lot of people's fear of dentists. Even though I never had that fear myself I did enjoy the first movie. I have had the sequel for a couple years now... it was a birthday gift and was looking forward to seeing it... but for some reason kept getting pushed back on my "To Watch" list. Now that I have watched it I can say I did enjoy it... is a decent sequel. But I did enjoy the first one much more then this one. Unfortunately even though this was a decent sequel... the ending kinda ruined it for me... as it had a ridiculous (for the story told) ending. This is a decent DVD release.. nothing to special but nothing bad either. The only extras we get is some trailers and bios/filmographies for stars and the director. My Thoughts: This is a (very) short lived series that originally aired on The CW... the year that The CW was formed. Unfortunately for some reason they felt the need to cancel this series after airing only 3 episodes! I mean come on... how do you not give a series more of a chance then 3 episodes? The DVD set has the entire 9 episodes that was produced before the cancellation. It is a real shame that they didn't give it more of a chance... because IMHO... this is a very good series. I think it had an excellent chance of going on for at least a couple full seasons. I found myself so drawn into this series while watching it. At the end of each episode I couldn't wait to watch the next. My favorite episode in the series is There's No Place Like Home... in this episode the small town the family is hiding out in is hit by a tornado. Obviously with such a small amount of episodes this series does end with some unanswered questions. But it does answer the question of who it was that killed the woman Paul is accused of murdering. And I must say... wow! Great twist! Definitely didn't see it coming! Makes me even madder that the series didn't get the chance to continue! My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on May 17th, 2012) |
