Vacancy, a review by KinkyCyborgTitle:Vacancy Year: 2007 Director: Nimrod Antal Rating: R Length: 85 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.40:1, Pan & Scan 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: English, French Stars: Kate Beckinsale Luke Wilson Frank Whaley Ethan Embry Scott G. Anderson Plot: When David (Luke Wilson) and Amy Fox's (Kate Beckinsale) car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, they are forced to spend the night at the only motel around, with only the TV to entertain them - until they discover that the low-budget slasher videos they find in their room were all filmed in the very room in which they're sitting. With hidden cameras now aimed at them - trapping them in rooms, crawlspaces, underground tunnels - and filming their every move, David and Amy must struggle to get out alive before they end up the next victims on tape. Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Closed Captioned Alternate opening sequences Extended Snuff Films My Thoughts: Decent thriller although I thought Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson were a bit of an odd pairing. The hotel manager was like a psychotic, real life Ned Flanders! Some edge of your seat cat and mouse thrills keep you revved up. The extended snuff videos in the extras were cool to watch too. Lewis Cast: Paul Gross (Constable Benton Fraser), Callum Keith Rennie (Stanley "Ray" Kowalski), Beau Starr (Lt. Harding Welsh), Camilla Scott (Inspector Margaret Thatcher), Tony Craig (Detective Jack Huey), Tom Melissis (Detective Dewey), Catherine Bruhier (Elaine), Gordon Pinsent (Fraser Sr.), Jackie Burroughs (Gladys Caunce), Diego Matamoros (Detective Hallet), Alan Peterson (Brandauer), Maria Vacratsis (Charmain), Walter Alza (Jimmy), Steve Michalchuk (Bronco), Tyler Kyte (Young Raymond), Peter Bray (Marcus Ellery), Diana Salvatore (Young Stella), Aron Tager (Tom) A good episode where we (and Fraser) learn more about the new Ray. Nice touch is, that Ray needs glasses for shooting. With them he is a really great shot, but without them he doesn't hit anything. Rating: (From "Due South" marathon on September 13th, 2009) |
