Angels & Demons, a review by Rich

Angels & Demons

Tom Hanks and Ron Howard unite for their fourth pairing with this follow-up to THE DA VINCI CODE. Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) works to solve a murder and prevent a terrorist act against the Vatican.

The follow on from Da Vinci Code, lacking the originals controversy, and straying further from the book than I would have liked.
It is very current, utilising the Hadron Collider in it's old age look at Religion vs Science. As expected it is a good blend of action and adventure, limitless budget allowing for some spectacular shots and effects, an impressive cast list, and direction/production values we have got used to with Howards films.
The film is more suspenseful than DVC, it feels more 'real', and the twist near the end was well crafted. McGregor stood out for me as the best actor, but it is hard to point a finger at any who under-performed.
But the ending

was just too perfect and lazy, and I think we should have been left with more questions and thoughts to ponder when the credits rolled.
Certainly it is a 'must' in most dvd collections, but it will never be the greatest.

Plot:
"I DON'T TRAIN GIRLS," trainer Frankie Dunn growls. But something's different about the spirited boxing hopeful who shows up daily at Dunn's gym. All she wants is a fighting chance.

Clint Eastwood plays Dunn and directs, produces and composes music for this acclaimed, multiaward-winning tale of heart, hope and family. Hilary Swank plays resilient Maggie, determined not to abandon her one dream. And Morgan Freeman is Scrap, gym caretaker and counterpoint to Dunn's crustiness. Grab your dreams and come out swinging. Million Dollar Baby is an absolute knockout.

My Thoughts:
I been wanting to see this movie since the first time I saw a trailer for it. Every since then I have heard nothing but good things about it. So going into this one I was hoping I wasn't letting all the hype around this one get to me. I have always liked both Clint Eastwood and Hilary Swank. And then there is of course Morgan Freeman who I think is also an amazing actor. After watching it I found this movie really has it all. Great talent... a storyline that is both exciting and moving. I found this movie to be nothing short of amazing! If you haven't seen this movie I definitely recommend it wholeheartedly!

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Ottifanten

Ottifanten are cartoon characters created by Otto Waalkes, a famous German comedian. This series is based on them and first aired in the nineties. I had watched some of the episodes when it first aired. I enjoyed them. The best humor comes from the baby, whose thoughts are voiced by Otto Waalkes himself.
