My Thoughts:
This is a great movie. I always enjoy watching it. A lot of lines I often think of in everyday situations. This is one of two movies written and directed by and starring Loriot, a German humorist who had a successful sketch show in the 70s, which had a lot of phrases which are still being used today.This movie is about a guy, who is sent into retirement by his company after ordering enough typewriter paper to last 40 years just because it is cheaper this way. This suprising turn of events causes trouble with his wife who has to handle his excentricities now also during the day. This movie lives from how the lines are delivered. I could quote some of my favorite lines here, but through translation and conversion to printed form all the humor would probably be lost.

Plot:
Comedic genius Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, who gets more than he bargained for when his expedition takes a wrong turn into the Land of the Lost. Now, Marshall, his crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist named Will (Danny McBride), have no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in a world full of marauding dinosaurs, fantastic creatures and laugh-out-loud comedy!

My Thoughts:
This is the second time I watched this movie since I bought it. I grew up with the TV Series it is based on so that definitely added some value for me. I was somewhat surprised to see they changed it from a family on a camping trip to a scientist, his assistant and a guide. I think I would have preferred if it was more like the series in this regard... but I was still able to enjoy the movie. The fact that Will Farrell is the star is something else that had me nervous as to me he has always been a very hit and miss actor... I don't like half the stuff I see him in. he movie really is a lot of fun. A non-sense type of fun... but fun nonetheless. Some of it had me laughing out loud... but then again some of it had me shaking my head in disbelief. And I definitely got a kick out of both Chaka and Grumpy. But overall it was more entertaining then anything. Though I will say that for me it did go down hill a bit towards the end. Over-all I am glad I have it in my collection... and I can see myself watching it again.

This series is made by the same people that made Freaks & Geeks. This time, instead of high school, it plays at a university. And it is not an hour drama, but half-hour comedy. Familiar faces from Freaks & Geeks so far are Seth Rogen and Jason Segel. Like Freaks & Geeks it only lasted one season.
I enjoyed this pilot episode.
There was a small cameo by Tom Welling. It must have been around the time he started his work on Smallville.
