Black Christmas, a review by addicted2dvd

Black Christmas
The college town of Bedford is receiving an unwelcome guest this Christmas. As the residents of sorority house Pi Kappa Sig prepare for the festive season, a demonic stranger begins to stalk the house.

A series of grisly obscene phone-calls start to plague the residents of the sorority and soon they will each meet their fate at the hands of the psychotic intruder.

As the Police try to trace the phone calls, they discover that nothing is as it seems during this BLACK CHRISTMAS.

Starring Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, Andrea Martin and John Saxon. Bob Clark's Black Christmas predates Halloween by 4 years and is now widely acknowledged as the inventor of the modern slasher film.

My Thoughts:
I first seen this movie only 2 short months ago when I bought a copy for my Halloween marathon. And I already felt I needed to watch it again. I once again found myself glued to my seat watching through-out the entire movie. It was pretty cool to see Margot Kidder in one of her earlier roles. And she happened to have my favorite kill in the movie. For those of you that don't like gore... there is no worries here. There is really no blood and gore. It is all left to the imagination. If you have never seen this movie... I highly recommend it.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie that for some reason I always enjoyed... ever since I brought it home the very first time... when I rented it on VHS. Wow that was a long time ago. One thing I really liked about this... is you don't have to be a horror fan to enjoy this monster movie. My brother (who hates horror) loves this series of movies. This is what I personally call a "light horror". It is a nice mix of horror and comedy. And even now when I watch it (after watching the entire series of Reba) don't recognize Reba McIntyre when she is on the screen... though her voice with her accent is unmistakable. The DVD release is really good. nice quality and a nice collection of extras! What more can you ask?

Plot:
With the blink of her eyes and a nod of her head, Barbara Eden will make your wishes come true in the premiere season of "I DREAM OF JEANNIE," available on DVD for the first time! Complete with all 30 episodes, this four-disc collection introduces Larry Hagman as Captain Anthony "Tony" Nelson, an astronaut who finds himself "Master" to a beautiful and crafty genie (Eden) whom he unknowingly releases from a bottle. Together, he and Jeannie are a magical match. Packed with bonus features and boasting some of television's brightest guest stars, such as Dabney Coleman, Maureen McCormick, Chuck Yeager and Bill Mumy, "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" is the beloved must-own comedy series that will have you dreaming of TV's Golden Age.

I Dream of Jeannie
1.01 The Lady in the Bottle (1965-09-18)
Writer: Sidney Sheldon (Writer)
Director: Gene Nelson
Cast: Barbara Eden (Jeannie), Larry Hagman (Capt. Anthony Nelson), Karen Sharpe (Melissa), Hayden Rorke (Dr. Bellows), Philip Ober (General Stone), Baynes Barron (Commander), Joe Higgins (2nd Garbage Man), Richard Reeves (1st Garbage Man), Warren Kemmerling (Husband), Patricia Scott (Wife), Don Dubbins (Lt. Pete Conway, USNR), Bill Daily (Capt. Roger Healey)

I always preferred I Dream of Jeannie over Bewitched. This pilot is a good introduction to the series. Although there is not yet the familiar theme tune. And also no Roger Healey.
It always surprises me how sexual the series was early in its run. Here Jeannie constantly kisses Tony and brings him into compromising situations. Her sole in this pilot episode is trying to break him and his fiancé up, so that she can have him.
