Hell Asylum, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Hell Asylum
Movie Count: 7
TV Ep Count: 1
Time Started: 10:30am
Plot:
A desperate producer faced with unemployment has the ultimate reality television program ready to roll. "Chill Challenge" sends five sexy models into a haunted old building where years earlier an eccentric millionaire had kidnapped a handful of unsuspecting women in an effort to force them to be his brides. The idea is simple: Spend a night without leaving and walk away with a cool million bucks! But what these sultry gals don't realize is, as they reveal their deepest, darkest fears to the probing eye of the camera, someone or something is using those fears against them! They are sent into the house alone, one at a time, to confront their nightmares...and an abomination that will kill them all!

My Thoughts:
Hell Asylum is 1 of 4 low budget horror movies in the boxset "Haunted by the Past".  And I mean this is LOW BUDGET! I didn't think much of this one... besides the low budget effects and amateurish acting look and feel to the whole movie... the storyline... even though thought had potential wasn't followed through upon. So Move Away... Nothing to see here!

My Thoughts:
This one I was a little concerned about getting. Wasn't sure if I would like it or not. As I am normally not the type to enjoy the martial arts movies with exaggerated leaps and such.  But to be fair... I never seen a movie from beginning to end in this style. While it was strange to watch it didn't bother me as much as I expected it to. The storyline... while interesting... I felt it could have been better. I especially couldn't get into the flashback of her in the desert falling in love. But the visuals is what made this movie for me. It is just a beautiful movie to watch. The acting was also top-notch. I thought every one of them did astounding work.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Dark Angel Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 2: Disc 6

20. Love Among the Runes
Max begins to develop strange markings on her body while leading a transgenic resistance against White, when he attempts to capture one of her "brothers". However, the transgenics are stunned by revealed secrets about their "father" that threaten all that they believe and stir up many more questions.

My Thoughts:
Good episode... and was a good set-up for the series finale. pretty much pure action here towards the end.

21. Freak Nation
Max is forced to expose her true identity to the world, when she must defend her own kind during a potentially deadly hostage situation at Jam Pony, involving Joshua and Alec.

My Thoughts:
Now... this was a great episode... and if I am not mistaken... this one was originally meant to be a season finale... not a series finale. It just left too much open... and I so wanted to see more! I remember when I first heard this series was canceled I had hoped for a TV Movie to finish off the series right... and even though I know the chances are extremely slim to none... I still would like to see one. But look what you have... Jessica Alba (Max) is a big time movie star now... Michael Weratherly (Logan) is a hit on NCIS now... and Jensen Ackles (Alec) is HUGE on Supernatural... I don't see them returning for it now.

Anyway... final thoughts on Dark Angel... I still to this day feel this is a wonderfully exciting and action packed series. A series that ended too soon in my opinion.  This is the show that I first noticed the always lovely Jessica Alba on. If you have never seen this series... and you like an action series... mixed with a generous dose of Sci-Fi... then you must check out this series as soon as you possibly can... You won't be sorry!!!
