Child's Play, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Child's Play: Chucky's 20th Birthday Edition
Movie Count: 98
TV Ep Count: 45
Other  Count: 2
Time Started: 4:30pm
Plot:
Six-year-old Andy is thrilled when he gets a brand-new, cheery Chucky doll for his birthday. But he quickly discovers that Chucky is possessed by the soul of a notorious serial killer who swiftly begins terrorizing Andy, his ill-fated babysitter and his disbelieving mom. And he doesn't stop there. Proving he's nobody to toy with, the demonic doll schemes to transfer his evil spirit out of its "kid-friendly" container...and into Andy!

My Thoughts:
After 8 F13 movies I am getting a bit tired of Jason. Time to slip over to something else. So thought I would check out my newest DVD. I always enjoyed Child's Play. And we finally get a widescreen version of the movie! Not to mention a special edition with a lot of extras. The best part... I got to upgrade to it without it costing me anything! It has been a while since I seen this one... so was good to watch again. I really enjoyed it. I didn't get the chance to check out many of the extras yet though.

My Rating

Iron Man, a review by DJ Doena

Robert Downey Jr.    ...    Tony Stark
Terrence Howard   ...    Rhodey
Jeff Bridges   ...    Obadiah Stane
Gwyneth Paltrow   ...    Pepper Potts
Leslie Bibb   ...    Christine Everhart
Shaun Toub   ...    Yinsen

Synopsis: Tony Stark is the CEO of Stark Industries. They manufacture and sell the most advanced weapons technology in the world. One day Stark is kidnapped and is forced to build a new weapons system for a group of terrorists. But Stark builds something else: an armored suit that he wears to break out of his prison. When he returns to the civilized world he reflects what he has seen on the other side of the world and he decides that weapons production isn't a good idea after all. But he can help people if he would wear that new suit of his more often...

My Opinion: This was a blind buy for me. Tony Stark's character is very two-dimensional, even after his change of heart. I would put it closer to Underworld than to The Incredible Hulk, more visuals than actual story or profundity. What bothered me, was the fact that they invented a superhero that has no actual superpowers and yet he survives the most absurds stunts as if he had superpowers. First when he crashed into the desert and again when he tested his rocket-boots and crashed without armor into a concrete wall. It may have looked funny but it didn't help with the character's credibility.
I find it interesting that movies about a teenager who has been bitten by a spider or about people who are born differently are more serious than a movie about a guy who's inventing the newest weapons.

Smallville Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 5: Disc 2:

EPISODE 5: THIRST
More than a one-bite stand? Lana unwittingly becomes part of a Met U. sorority of vampires. One condition of her membership: She must bring Clark in for a bitefest! Chloe joins the DAILY PLANET.

My Thoughts:
I LOVE this one! As I am sure most people know... I love vampire movies/shows.... So having a vampire episode in Smallville is awesome! As much as I love vampires... it is even better that the vampires are cute (if now annoying) Sorority Girls. LOL  And I just had to laugh at Clark in that Zorro costume for the Halloween party at the sorority house.

EPISODE 6: EXPOSED
Undercover. And under-dressed. Lois poses as a gentleman's club dancer to sleuth information about a murdered stripper who may have ties to Jonathan's longtime friend, Senator Jennings.

My Thoughts:
A decent episode... was cool to see Tom Wopat and John Schnider together again in this episode. And of course I liked seeing Lois going undercover at the strip club.... and we also get the first hint of Jonathan running for the Senate. But I don't think the episode came out as good as it could of.

EPISODE 7: SPLINTER
Mysterious messages taunt him. Friends betray him. A new kind of KRYPTONITE makes Clark paranoid...and dangerous. Prof. Fine reveals his origins. And Jonathan weighs a run for political office against Lex.

My Thoughts:
Another Decent episode... in this one Clark finds out about Professor Fine. And we get introduced to Silver Kryptonite now. I don't know... I like James Marsters... but I wasn't too thrilled with the Professor Fine episodes. They did bring the main story arc along... but the entertainment value wasn't as up there as it should have been.

EPISODE 8: SOLITUDE
A strange malady grips Martha - is JOR-EL attempting to collect her? Prof. Fine convinces Clark the only way to stop his biological father is to destroy the Fortress of Solitude. Trust him at you own peril, Clark!

My Thoughts:
A good episode... but not great. Clark finds out the whole truth about Professor Fine. Again the episode, although was good, I felt could have been better.
