My Thoughts: Based on the German movie "Mädchen in Uniform" from 1931. The movie was okay. Nothing special though. I was entertained during the short runtime. But I found the emotions in this movie forced and not all that natural.Rating: (From Lesbian Movie Marathon on December 12th, 2010) Sydney White, a review by TomTitle: Sydney White Year: 2008 Director: Joe Nussbaum Rating: 12 Length: 103 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: English Stars: Amanda Bynes Sara Paxton Matt Long Jack Carpenter Jeremy Howard Plot: America's sweetheart Amanda Bynes stars in the fun comedy Sydney White. When tomboy Sydney (Bynes) is banished from the most popular sorrity on campus, she is taken in by seven socially challanged but endearing guys. With the help of her new friends, Sydney stands up for outcasts everywhere and takes on the reigning campus queen in a popularity showdown! But can she succeed and also win the heart of gorgeous frat guy Tyler Prince? You'll love this hilarious and sweet age-old story with a charming modern-day twist! Awards: Scene Access My Thoughts: After I have had watched "She's the Man" recently, I have stumbled across another Amanda Bynes movie: "Sydney White". As I had found it really cheap in a three movie set, I decided to buy it. The other two movies in this set I didn't really enjoy, but I liked this one. It's a fun modern version of "Snow White". The dwarfs part in this movie is taken over by the "Seven Dorks", with a lot of familiar faces. Like Danny Strong (Jonathan from Buffy) and Samm Levine (Freak and Geeks). Another familiar TV actor in this movie is John Schneider (Jonathan Kent from Smallville, Dukes of Hazard) who plays Sydney's father. Harding Welsh), Camilla Scott (Inspector Margaret Thatcher), Tony Craig (Detective Jack Huey), Tom Melissis (Detective Dewey), Ramona Milano (Francesca Vecchio), Gordon Pinsent (Fraser Sr.), Dean McDermott (Constable Turnbull), Michael Hogan (George), Ronnie Hawkins (Muddy Johnson), Shawn Doyle (Dwight Jones), David Keeley (Earl Jeffers), Dan Lett (Carver Dunn), Michelle Wright (Tracy Jenkins), Lynne Deragon (Desk Sergeant), Susan Hamann (MacAfferty), Jamie Williams (Mick), Brad Borbridge (Smith), Justine Campbell (Arlene), Reagan Pasternak (Waitress) Now that was a fun episode. Also the Turnball courting Francesca is nice. Even though Gordon Pinsent is in the opening credits, I don't remember seeing him once in this season so far. Though I remember him appearing a lot at the end of this series. So the best episodes should be coming up soon. Rating: (From "Due South" marathon on January 1st, 2011) |
