Clawed: The Legend of Sasquatch, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Clawed: The Legend of Sasquatch Year: 2005 Director: Karl Kozak Rating: R Length: 83 Min. Video: Widescreen 1.76:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: English, Spanish Stars: Dylan Purcell Brandon Henschel Miles O'Keeffe Jack Conley Chelsea Hobbs Casey Labow Plot: According to a tale told for generations in Pine Creek, many years ago a group of hunters were found slaughtered in the woods above the town in a gruesome tragedy that locals have come to call "the Echo Mountain Massacre." Legend has it that a giant grizzly mauled the men in the hunting party beyond recognition. Some in the town believe the legend, and some aren't quite sure that a grizzly, even a big one, could have done what the story says happened. But it happens again. A band of poachers is found brutally killed much like the old legend had reported. Was it another giant grizzly? Or could it be something more cunning and more powerful than even a great bear? Now, four high school seniors, a park ranger and a pack of revenge-hungry gunmen are going to find out... Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers Bonus Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes My Thoughts: An entertaining film... but should have been a lot better. For the most part it was pretty slow. Big Foot looked pretty good for a guy in a hair suit. No CGI here for great effects. They kinda went old school for this one. It really needed more action. But not sorry I have it... and could even see myself watching it again at some point. Just nothing here to blow your socks off. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From The Movies From Within My Lifetime on May 21st, 2011) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a review by RichTitle: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Runtime:104 Certificate:12 Year:2005 Genres:Adventure, Comedy, Science-Fiction Plot:Wonderfully wacky. Absurdly hysterical. Insanely irreverent. It's the laugh-out-loud intergalactic comedy THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY. Based on Douglas Adams' best-selling novel and filled with out-of-this world visual and special effects, this is one ride you don't want to miss. Seconds before Earth is destroyed by the nastiest creatures in the universe, mild-mannered Arthur Dent is whisked into space by his friend, an alien in human form. And so the misadventures begin as he and fellow travellers, including a two-headed Galactic President and a paranoid android, search for answers to the mystery of life, the universe and everything. My Review: At school HGTTG radio, tv and book was always the realm of geeky kids, (chess club participants who brought schoolwork in briefcases and were wedgied at lunchtime). I didn't like it then and this film reinforced the fact. It was fairly well made and at times amusing, reasonable cast of actors and narrator who appeared happy to be part of this venture, but overall I found the humour adolescent and the script without context. I understand even fanboys didn't like this adaptation, so we now do have something in common. Clearly another adaptation once again by Hollywood flopped. My Rating (From December Marathons - DISCUSSION AND REVIEW THREAD on December 21st, 2009) Wonderfalls Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd1. WAX LION Jaye thinks she's going insane after a defective wax lion and a brass monkey begin telling her to do thing--and she actually finds herself doing them! My Thoughts: This is a really good introduction to the characters. I like how they don't make it clear what it is talking to her through these inanimate objects. Whether is is God, The Devil or if she is just crazy. And talk about a date going wrong. My Rating: (From Wonderfalls Marathon on January 20th, 2010) |
