King Ralph, a review by addicted2dvd

King Ralph
When a freak accident wipes out the entire royal family, an exhaustive search reveals a distant relation: Ralph Jones (Goodman), a good-natured, down-to-earth Las Vegas entertainer. Immediately, the rude and crude Ralph is given a crash course in royal manners by his new private secretary, the very proper Lord Willingham (Peter O'Toole). but while Ralph's uncouth behavior delights the public, it fuels a fiendish plot by the evil Lord Graves (John Hurt), who's out to oust the new ruler. Now, it's up to this lowborn lounge singer to redeem himself in a manner befitting a king in this warmhearted comedy romp.

My Thoughts:
This movie is more of a guilty pleasure type thing then anything else. It really isn't a particularly good movie... but one I enjoy watching from time to time. To be honest I don't really know why I enjoy it as much as I do. I just find it to be a fun movie. Nothing more and nothing less. The DVD release is pretty good. Good audio and video... but unfortunately there is no extras what so ever.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Lawrence of Arabia, a review by Rich

water water water in UAE

Director David Lean follows the heroic true-life odyssey of T.E. Lawrence (Peter O'Toole) in this magnificent portrait of the famed British officer's journey to the Middle East. Assigned to Arabia during World War I, Lawrence courageously unites the warring Arab factions into a strong guerrilla front. He leads them into brilliant victories in treacherous desert battlefields where they eventually defeat the ruling Turkish Empire. Restored to its full glory in 1989.

First time I have sat down and watched the whole of this epic in one go, and was pleasantly surprised to how much we enjoyed it.  Breathtaking scenery and wizadry performed behind the cameras, PO'T is absolutely brilliant portraying Lawrence as the narcissistic masochist he undoubtably was, and you can even overlook Alec Guinness playing an Arab!  Epic in the old sense of the Hollywood word, a must-see rather than a must-own. 7/10

Birthday Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Friends: Season 5
The One Where Rachel Smokes
Rachel takes up smoking at her new job as a way of making inroads with the boss. Ross's son Ben joins Joey on an audition for a soup commercial.

My Thoughts:
In this episode Phoebe and Monica try to plan Rachel's birthday party... but Monica pretty much takes over... leaving Phoebe completely out of the planning. Leaving only cups and ice for her... and she really does the cups and ice! It is funny... I noticed both this episode and the last one I watched... in the very beginning Joey tries to do a bad card trick. I wonder if that will continue through-out all the Friends birthday episodes. This one wasn't quite as good as the one I watched before it... but still a fun watch.
