My Thoughts:
This is one of the handful of '70s movie I just recently got in the Too Cool for School boxset. Being from Mill Creek Entertainment and the fact that the fit 12 movies on 3 discs I really wasn't expecting much quality wise from this set. But if I can go by this movies I will be pleasantly surprised. As this one has very good audio and video quality... I'm impressed.  This is one of the many in that set I never seen before. So what do I say about the movie itself? Hmmmm... the story is almost non-existent. It is basically no more then a bunch of kids getting out of school for the summer... and following their partying and goofing around. It has plenty of... I don't want to say pointless because come on... is there such a thing as pointless nudity? But there is there is lots of bare boobs with a scene or two of bare butts thrown in for good measures. I got to admit... I did like the dog on the beach that was trained to pull the bikini tops off the sunbathing girls. I know I am focusing quite a bit on the nudity in this movie... but as I discovered... it is pretty much a must in a movie like this. As without it... you wouldn't have that much of a movie left. There is a couple chuckles here and there... but nothing all that great comedy wise. This is definitely a movie that is geared more towards the "horny teenager" then it is for someone that is looking for a thought provoking story. But for what it is... it is not bad... but could have been better.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

In the steamy jungles of the South Pacific, an enormous creature is created by nuclear fallout. Lost for decades, the power and the fury of the world's largest monster are about to be unleashed. He's the most spectacular creature in the cinematic history, with a foot the size of a bus, a body as tall as London's Big Ben and the strength and agility the likes of which the world has never seen. The creators of 'Independence Day' are proud to unleash the ultimate in monster movies, 'Godzilla', starring Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno and Hank Azaria. It's true what they say SIZE DOES MATTER

My Thoughts:
I do not know why this movie has such a bad rep. It is a fine movie about a monster trashing New York City. Well done special effects and audio effects.
I think it is funny how the American army destroys more of New York than the creature does  and they need the help of the French to save the day (maybe a reason it is not liked by American audiences ;) )

I think a big reason for the poor reviews about this movie is, that it was too much hyped beforehand (as a matter of fact I did not watch this movie in the theater because of this). Another reason may be, that the cinema goers had enough about this kind of movie, because it was yet another movie about a big dinosaur -like creature after already two Jurassic Parks.

A nice cast of well-known actors (at least to some) is also present: Jean Reno, Matthew Broderick. Three Simpsons cast members (Harry Shearer, Hank Azaria and Nancy Cartwright).

The only thing which didn't quite fit is the "nest" of mini-Godzillas. The scene in the Madison Square Garden feels like a rehash of Jurassic Park.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: The Complete First Season marathon, a review by Dragonfire

1. Pilot
No one is ever safe, least of all Sarah Connor and her son, John. Tired of running from the machines, Sarah decides to stand and fight.

My Thoughts

I thought this was a good start to the series.  Certain things were like the first two movies, but I thought that still worked.  It made sense to me that Sarah and John would still basically be living on the run even though they thought they had stopped Skynet and Judgment Day in the second movie.  Sarah was tied to the explosion at Cyberdine and Dyson's death, so it was believable to me that the police and even FBI would be looking for her.  It didn't seem as...believable that Sarah would have gotten in the situation she was at the beginning of the episode though.  And I thought something else just didn't work right either.

Despite the few..issues I had with the episode, I still really enjoyed it.  I loved seeing Summer Glau again.  Some of her expressions did remind me a bit of River, but it was still a different character.

2. Gnothi Seauton
New future, new identity. Cromartie, the battered but relentless Terminator programmed to kill John Connor, resurfaces.

My Thoughts

I enjoyed this episode as well.  It worked well to follow what was set up in the first episode with them getting settled in a different time and everything.
I would have liked if there had been a bit more explanation for a few things though.

(click to show/hide)

I still liked the episode, but the few things I mentioned in the spoiler did bug me..and the more I think about them the more they bug me.  Hopefully those sort of things won't be happening all the time..if they do, I see myself getting really irritated at times.

3. The Turk
He's just a geek with a hobby. But is the computer chess program Andy Goode developed the beginning of the end?

My Thoughts

I did enjoy this episode as well.  It was interesting to see John and Cameron going to school and the explanation they came up with to explain why she was setting off the metal detector.  I also liked how this episode set up a new potential way for Skynet to possible start.  I didn't notice any issues that irked me in this one.

I think the cast is doing well.  I think I like Sarah from the movies a little better..but that doesn't mean this version of the character is bad..just different.

So far, even though I was irked by a few things, I still really enjoyed these episodes and am ready to watch the next disc.
