Terminator 2, a review by Dragonfire

Skynet, the 21st century computer waging a losing war on humans sends a second terminator back in time to destroy the leader of the human resistance while he is still a boy. His mother is the only one who knows of the existence of the Terminators, human-like robots that exist only to kill and are nearly indestructible, and Sarah, the boy's mother is currently in a state mental hospital because of her 'delusions'. A second protector is sent back to the past by the Human resistance to protect John Connor, their future leader, at all costs.

My Thoughts

I saw this one when it was first released in the theater - I actually won tickets to an early screening from a local radio station. Anyway, I enjoyed the movie then and I still like it.  It has been a while since I last saw it, so I had forgotten a few small things.  For a while I was thinking that I had forgotten whole scenes and sequences, then I remembered that my DVD had 16 or 17 extra minutes added back into the movie.  Some of those minutes did help to add some explanations while others didn't seem as...important.  I liked that Arnold's Terminator had been reprogrammed to protect John.  The new Terminator..T-1000 I think was really cool, especially the whole liquid metal shape changing thing.  Of course that made him harder to kill..but it was still cool.  The action scenes were done well and helped to keep things interesting.  I remember being surprised by how...buff Sarah was in this movie.  It was almost like she was trying to give Arnold some competition in the muscle department.  lol

I watched 2 short extras on the making of the movie..the first one had lots of interesting stuff on how the effects were done.  It was talked about how the liquid metal thing built on what had been done in The Abyss.  There are more extras that can only be accessed through the DVD-ROM, which I haven't checked out yet.  I do really like the movie.  It is a very well done action movie.

Plot:
The adrenaline-pumping kick ass 'Dead or Alive' videogame is taken to the next level as a movie from Hong Kong action legend Corey Yuen (The Transporter).

Three beautiful women - each a sizzling martial arts mistress - are invited to the world's ultimate secret fighting tournament to slug it out for a $10m prize.

Tina Armstrong (Jaime Pressly) is a sexy superstar pro-wrestler. Christie (Holly Valance) is a sultry master thief. Kasumi (Devon Aoki - Sin City, 2 Fast 2 Furious), is a proud Ninja princess, schooled in the ancient fighting arts. All three begin the awesome fighting contest as rivals, but soon must team up to defeat the tournament's sinister secret. Samurai swords slash and punches fly as the martial arts mayhem cranks up in DOA: Dead Or Alive.

I have never played or even seen any of the video games, the movie is based on. This is probably good, because I didn't have any expectations of how the characters should be like.
For me this movie is just a fun movie with over-the-top martial arts (and that much of it) and a lot of hot girls kicking ass.
I very much enjoyed this movie for what it is. Don't expect a deep story here, but who would anyway in a movie based on a fighting game?

My PILOT Marathon, a review by Rich

Pulling - Series 1

Episode 1
29 year old Donna comes to to the sudden realisation, that she doesn't want to get married to her boyfriend Karl - one day before the wedding...



A sitcom about a thirtysomething woman who ditches her reliable fiance to move in with a group of single girls. Donna isn't dull, she isn't ordinary and she's definitely meant for big things in life, so dumping her ultra-dependable and slightly beige fiancé Karl just days before their wedding isn't such a major thing for her.

A BBC3 series that was missed by many, but for the few that have given it a chance, the reward was a hilarious, black and original comedy, in the mould of Gavin & Stacey or Shameless, and a better series than many that have plagued the major channels in recent years. Series 2 has just finished, and I believe it has now been scrapped.
The comedy revolves around three crass and common girls flat sharing in London, a desperate ex fiancé, and the many cringeworthy scenarios they find themselves in. It is most definately adult humour, from the very first scene in the pilot! It is extremely well written, some great acting, and storylines to make your belly hurt from laughing. This should have been a major hit, but without the mass appeal of the more mainstream family-friendly comedy programmes, it was never given much of a chance on the lesser Beeb channel.
Completely underrated and overlooked, I highly recommend it.
