The Santa Clause 2, a review by addicted2dvd

The Santa Clause 2
Walt Disney Pictures presents an all-new comedy adventure overflowing with holiday cheer. Tim Allen reappears in 'Santa Clause 2' , the hilarious sequel to everybody's holiday favorite. Scott Calvin (Allen) has been Santa for the past 8 years, and his loyal elves consider him the best one ever. But Scott's got problems. His son Charlie landed on this year's "naughty" list, and if Scott doesn't marry before Christmas Eve - one very, very short month away - he'll stop being Santa forever. Embracing Chrsitmas and the magic of family with heart, warmth, fun and charm, 'Santa Clause 2' is classic holiday entertainment everybody will enjoy again and again.

My Thoughts:
This is a pretty good sequel. I enjoyed it quite a bit. But this one was not as good as the first one. I think the only real problem I have with it is the whole Toy Santa storyline. That part just didn't feel right to me, personally. Other then that I enjoyed every minute of it... and watch it every year right after watching "The Santa Clause"... it never fails... I always have to have a double feature when watching these movies.

I don't have part 3 of this series yet.... and I have heard some bad things about it. But as much as I enjoyed the first 2 I still MUST see the 3rd one once I can get my hands on it.

Plot:
The Christmas spirit isn't served up with more observant hilarity than in this beloved adaptation of Jean Shepherd's holiday story. In 1940s Indiana, nine-year-old Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) dreams of his ideal Christmas gift: a genuine Red Ryder 200-shot Carbine Action Air Rifle. But when gruff dad (Darren McGavin) and doting mom (Melinda Dillion) regularly respond with "You'll shoot your eye out!" Ralphie mounts a full-scale Santa-begging campaign. He encounters a slew of calamities from snowsuit paralysis to the dreaded tongue-on-a-frozen-flagpole gambit. We triple-dog-dare you to unwrap a more welcome Yuletide classic!

Extras:
Scene Access
Audio Commentary
Feature Trailers
Featurettes

Radio Readings by Jean Sheppard

My Thoughts:
While I have seen small bits and pieces of this movie on cable over the years... this is actually the first time I got to see this one from start to finish. It is a fun movie... I definitely enjoyed it. Though from all the years of hearing about this one... I think I was expecting more from it... and felt it didn't live up to it's reputation for me. But it definitely had some decent laughs in it. OMG... that terrible gift from his aunt... the bunny pajamas... and the fact that his mother liked it so much was scary as well. I do think the story was over exaggerated... but I believe that was on purpose. After all it was supposed to be a guy telling the story about a childhood Christmas.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Tom's Random Star Trek Reviews, a review by Tom

VOY 4.03 Day of Honor
Writer: Jeri Taylor (Writer)
DirectorCast: Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway), Robert Beltran (Chakotay), Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna Torres), Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Paris), Ethan Phillips (Neelix), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Tim Russ (Tuvok), Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim), Alexander Enberg (Ensign Vorik), Alan Altshuld (Lumas), Michael A. Krawic (Rhamin), Kevin P. Stillwell (Moklor), Majel Barrett (Computer Voice (voice))

This is the second big P/T episode. Voyager must dump its warp core (I think this was the first time ever, that we actually saw the warp core eject from the ship on-screen in any Star Trek series). B'Elanna and Tom take a shuttle to get the core back, but are left stranded in environment suits with not much oxygen left. This leads to some heart-to-heart and a love confession by B'Elanna shortly before they would have died if Voyager hadn't shown up in the nick of time.
Although I like this episode and the P/T moments, it was much too sudden. They slowly built up the relationship during season three, and in the first episode in season 4 with P/T content they suddenly get together. Originally it was planned to continue slowly building up that relationship in season 4, but when Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna) became pregnant in real life, they decided to get Tom and B'Elanna together before the actress started showing.

P/T moments: About half of the episode, but the most important is of course the last scene.
