Halloween, a review by Dragonfire

Halloween

My Thoughts

I did post a review on Epinions last year.

Halloween

I will say that I haven't seen Rob Zombie's remake, though I have read several reviews and heard different things about it.  At first I thought it might be interesting to know about Michael and his childhood.  After thinking about it more, I have changed my mind.  I'm thinking that would ...diminish the scariness instead.  I think a lot of what made the original so scary is that there really isn't any motivation for why Michael does what he does.

The Lady Vanishes, a review by Dragonfire

During a transcontinental train trip in Europe, a young woman is alarmed to discover a passenger has disappeared. Starring Margaret Lockwood

My Thoughts

This one does start off slower while the various characters are introduced.  I was wondering briefly where the train was..lol.  Anyway, the movie has a unique group of characters and there are some humorous moments with some of them.  There is a good amount of tension and suspense throughout the movie, especially once the woman has vanished and everyone denies ever having seen her.  The mystery is decent and helps to make things interesting.  The explanations for what happened as well as why everyone denied seeing the woman ultimately work.  Many of the passengers have their own somewhat selfish reasons for denying seeing the woman.  There is decent chemistry between the main characters and their developing relationship is believable.

Overall, the movie is very entertaining and I enjoyed it.

Fear Itself: The Complete Series

5. In Sickness and in Health
On the day of her wedding to Carlos, Samantha recieves a shocking note that reads, "The person you are marrying is a serial killer."
Director: John Landis (An American Werewolf in London)

Stars:
Maggie Lawson
James Roday
Marshall Bell
Sonja Bennett
William B. Davis

My Thoughts:
This is another episode I never seen before. It originally aired as the 4th episodes of the series.  William B. Davis (The X-Files) played the part of the priest that married the couple. While it is not a terrible episode... It definitely needs a lot of work. The storyline,,, while works is not as interesting as it could be. Plus added to that is the fact that they went with the obvious twist I seen it coming from the very beginning of the episode. If there is many episodes such as this one that originally aired on TV... it comes to no surprise that the series got canceled after airing only 8 episodes.

My Rating:
