The Abominable Dr. Phibes, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: The Abominable Dr. Phibes Year: 1971 Director: Robert Fuest Rating: PG-13 Length: 95 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Mono, French: Dolby Digital Mono, Spanish: Dolby Digital Mono Subtitles: French, Spanish Stars: Vincent Price as Dr. Phibes Joseph Cotten as Dr. Vesalius Virginia North as Vulnavia Terry-Thomas as Dr. Longstreet Sean Bury as Lem Plot:Extras: Scene Access Theatrical Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is one of the many in my collection I never seen before today. Though it is one that was suggested to me on many occasions by many people. Vincent Price has become a favorite of mine. I have to admit... I had my concerns about this one as soon as it started. Since I am not a fan of music of any kind. And this one opens with some strange orchestra. The movie itself... while good... I was expecting better. Maybe because of how people have gone on and on about it to me... causing my expectations to be higher then they should have been. But over all it is worth watching and I am glad I have it in my collection. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Movies of the '70s Marathon on March 18th, 2010) Ghost Ship, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: The Ghost Ship Year: 1943 Director: Mark Robson Rating: NR Length: 69 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Mono Subtitles: English, French, Spanish Stars: Richard Dix Russell Wade Edith Barrett Ben Bard Edmund Glover Plot: There's danger dead ahead when director Mark Robson (Bedlam) helms The Ghost Ship. Richard Dix (Cimarron, The Whistler series) plays the sinister captain whose port of call may be madness. All aboard! Extras: Scene Access My Thoughts: I decided to start my marathon with a classic. One of the Val Lewton movies I bought this past October. After watching the movie I am a little disappointed that it has nothing to do with ghosts... but it is a good movie. It has some great atmosphere in it. I found that when we heard the mute sailor's thoughts it was quite eerie. It was well done. While I did enjoy this movie quite a bit... I must say that so far it is my least favorite of the Val Lewton movies that I have watched. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Unwatched DVDs on December 18th, 2009) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom

Richardson (Announcer/Desmond Pfeiffer (voice)), Lauren Tom (Various (voice)), April Winchell (Various (voice)) A fun short-lived series based on the movie Clerks. It was cancelled after two of the six produced episodes were aired. Probably because the network wanted a show for kids, but this one is more directed to adult Smith fans. Even though this episode is one of the weaker ones, I still enjoyed it. Especially the beginning. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on March 31st, 2011) |
