Extras: Bonus Trailers Music Videos Scene Access My Thoughts: Funnier than I had expected. From the description I thought it would be a drama throughout. But the first hour or so is just a regular romantic comedy. Anupam Kher as the father is a riot as he often is. This movie handle the delicate (for India) subject of a pregnacy of a young woman out of wedlock. Preity Zinta did a great job here. It is one of her first roles. I didn't realize that she was paired with Saif Ali Khan so early. I have seen two later movies with those two in the leads. The DVD quality on the other hand is not so good. The video is non-anamorphic. There were a few minutes were the subtitles were mostly missing (only every fifth sentence or so got subtitled), but you got the gist of those scenes. The most annoying though was, that the audio track was out of sync with the video the last half hour or so. Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on June 19th, 2010) Role Models, a review by RichTitle: Role Models Runtime:101 Certificate:15 Year:2008 Genres:Comedy Plot:Unconventional salesmen, stuck-in-a-rut Danny (Paul Rudd) and lady's man Wheeler (Seann William Scott), spend their days promoting Minotaur energy drink to school students. Full of self-loathing and driven to delirium after being dumped by girlfriend Beth (Elizabeth Banks), Danny lashes out on an energy drink bender, trashing both the company truck and school property, resulting in the arrest of both him and Wheeler. Wheeler and Danny are faced with a choice; either do time in jail or clock one hundred and fifty hours as mentors for troubled children. These unlikely role models are assigned to the most difficult children on offer, making them contemplate jail as an easier option! Danny is paired with dorky role playing loner, Augie (Superbad's Mclovin' Christopher Mintz-Plasse), whilst Wheeler is the latest victim of booby obsessed, foul-mouthed Ronnie (Bobb'e J. Thompson). Let the fun begin! My Review: Oddball teen comedy attempting to portray some moral life-choice message, it is a mish mash of a script that confuses the viewer on whether he is watching a bawdy humourous film, or a feeble attempt at an insightful light-hearted family movie, but with sex and swearing?? I'd be surprised if anyone over the age of 15 would find this movie entertaining or funny, there are a few chuckle moments, but mostly I felt uncomfortable listening to kids curse like navvies or draw male genatalia at every opportunity. Even worse was the sickly ending, after watching about an hours worth of dull dungeon and dragon style re-enactments. Poor mans American Pie only truly suitable for a boy going through puberty. My Rating (From DCO third annual November Alphabet Marathon - discussion/review/banter thread on November 2nd, 2009) Xena: Warrior Princess Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdSeason 1: Disc 4 13. Athens City Academy... Gabrielle forsakes a new odyssey with Xena in order to audition for the Athens City Academy of the Performing Bards at their annual storytelling competition. My Thoughts: This is a fun episode... though I found it odd that so soon into the first season they decided to do a clips episode that revisited the earlier episodes. I just don't think it was needed this soon into the series. Especially watching it on DVD like this. But it was fun watching Gabrielle tell all the stories about her and Xena... as well as see the other styles of storytelling from the other people in the competition. My Rating: 14. A Fistful of Dinars My Thoughts: Another good episode... had Xena and the others figuring out clues to make it to the treasure. It almost had a feel of an Indiana Jones movie where he always had to figure out the correct way of doing things to get further. My Rating: 15. Warrior...Princess The Warrior Princess learns life as a blue blood can be a royal pain when she stands in for a princess whose life has been threatened by assassins. My Thoughts: This episode I liked very much. It was just plain fun... and I found myself laughing on more then one occassion in this episode. Not only did I think it was fun seeing Xena try to act like a princess and fight in the princess's dress... but I thought it was hilarious seeing the princess trying to be a convincing Xena. My Rating: 16. Mortal Beloved The ghost of her beloved Marcus prompts Xena to travel to the Underworld - where a madman has stolen Hades' Helmet of Invisibility, causing total chaos in the realm. My Thoughts: Another excellent episode... but this time much more serious then the last episode. I liked the more fantasy driven storyline. I also liked how they did Hades' guards, The Harpies.
