WR: Mysteries of the Organism, a review by Danae CassandraWR: Mysteries of the Organism Year of Release: 1971 Directed By: Dusan Makavejev Starring: Milena Dravic, Ivica Vidovic, Jagoda Kaloper, Tuli Kupferberg Genre: Fantasy, Comedy, Drama Overview:WR: Mysteries of the Organism begins as an investigation into the life and work of controversial psychologist and philosopher Wilhelm Reich and then explodes into a free-form narrative of a beautiful young Slavic girl's sexual liberation. Banned upon its release in the director's homeland, the art-house smash WR is both whimsical and bold in its blending of politics and sexuality. My Thoughts: Subversive, anarchic, but also ultimately a product of it's time; this was an interesting watch. It's very much a surrealist film - part documentary, part montage, part narrative, part social critique via music video - it's a weird film. It's also a film that shows its age. It could only be a product of the late 60's/early 70's, for all that it's actual critique is timeless. Some familiarity with Stalinist policies and Communist Yugoslavia is helpful in viewing. Recommended only to serious art film lovers. Bechdel Test: Pass Overall: 4/5 (From March Around the World 2016 on March 11th, 2016) Not Another Teen Movie, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Not Another Teen Movie: Special Edition Year: 2001 Director: Joel Gallen Rating: R Length: 89 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, French: Dolby Digital Surround, Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: English, French Stars: Chyler Leigh as Janey Briggs Chris Evans as Jake Wyler Jaime Pressly as Priscilla Eric Christian Olsen as Austin Mia Kirshner as Catherine Plot:Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Interactive Games Music Videos Closed Captioned Car Ride short film My Thoughts: This is the first time I watched this movie since I first bought it back in 2003. It is of course a spoof on teen romantic comedies. It is a fun movie... there was a couple scenes I could have done without... but over-all it is worth checking out. This particular movie had 3 people that I recognized from TV Series. First one being Mia Krishner who I know from 2 shows. An old Saturday Morning kid series Dracula: The Series where she played Sophie, the young girl the brothers meet and helps them attempt to defeat Dracula. Then there is Eric Christian Olsen who played Jensen in the second season of Tru Calling. And finally we got Joanne Garcia, she played Cheyenne in Reba... here she plays the cheerleader with Turrets. Which was a fun gag in a few scenes through-out the movie. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Mystery Marathon on January 28th, 2010) Buffy the Vampire Slayer Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdSeason 5: Disc 2 EPISODE 5: NO PLACE LIKE HOME While on her nightly patrol, Buffy finds a glowing orb which leads her to suspect there's an unnatural force behind both her mother's growing illness and her sister Dawn. My Thoughts: Another good episode... in this one we find out exactly where Dawn came from... and we meet the new Big Bad for the season. Glory. I wouldn't say Glory is my favorite of the Big Bads... but she is pretty cool. I will definitely enjoy this season more then the last. EPISODE 6: FAMILY Tara inadvertently puts everyone in danger when she secretly casts a spell on her friends after her family arrives in Sunnydale to celebrate her birthday. My Thoughts: Another good episode... this one centering around Tara... In this one we find out why she stopped that spell for locating demons from working last season. EPISODE 7: FOOL FOR LOVE After being impaled by a vampire, Buffy turns to Spike, who claims to have killed two Slayers, in an attempt to learn how other Slayers met their end. My Thoughts: Another episode I liked... In this episode there is a flashback showing Spike getting turned into a vampire... and him defeating 2 different slayers. They kinda messed up here though... in the second season.... in the episode School Hard Spike said that Angel was his sire... but yet in this episode it shows Drusilla siring him. EPISODE 8: SHADOW Buffy has to face both her mother's critical illness and the growing threat of Glory's continuing search for the Key. My Thoughts: This is a pretty good episode... I liked the snake creature... but I have to admit this episode (not to mention the upcoming episodes) was/will be hard for me to watch... what with my mother being ill at the moment.
