Alphabet Marathon - July 2010 - Entry #3
WHAT THEY SAY
From the revolutionary minds of Pixar Animation Studios and the acclaimed director of Monsters, Inc. comes a hilariously uplifting adventure where the sky is no longer the limit.

Carl Fredricksen, a retired balloon salesman, is part rascal, part dreamer who is ready for his last chance at high-flying excitement. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl sets off to the lost world of his childhood dreams. Unbeknownst to Carl, Russell, an overeager 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer who has never ventured beyond his backyard, is in the wrong place at the wrong time - Carl's front porch! The world's most unlikely duo reach new heights and meet fantastic friends like Dug, a dog with a special collar that allows him to speak, and Kevin, a rare 13-foot-tall flightless bird. Stuck together in the wilds of the jungle, Carl realizes that sometimes life's biggest adventures aren't the ones you set out looking for.

MY THOUGHTS
Another good one by Pixar!

Great little story. If I am objective, it's a rather standard story but the way it's shown, the imaginativeness of it all makes it a solid movie. There many nice little touches here and there.

Yes, I quite liked it!

Enemy Mine, a review by addicted2dvd

Enemy Mine
In this visually stunning sci-fi adventure, two warriors engaged in a savage, futuristic war between Earth and the planet Dracon, crash-land on a desolate, fiery planet. At first, the human (Dennis Quaid) and his reptilian, alien opponent (Louis Gossett, Jr.) are intent on destroying each other. But after battling the elements and each other, the two stranded pilots gradually realize that the only way either of them will survive is to overcome their undying hatred.

My Thoughts:
This is another movie I have not seen since it originally came out. Another movie that I did remember enjoying... but did not remember much else about it. My memory served me well as this is a great movie. A movie with a message. There was some slow parts... yes... but they were few and far between. This is much more then a Sci-Fi Adventure... it is a really good story of friendship. Unfortunately there is not much here for extras... but they do give us the Theatrical Trailer.

The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ Doena

The Simpsons

What's the show about?
It'*s about the life of the Simpons - mainly Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie - in Springfield. It's always the same year in Springfield, Lisa is always a second-grader and Bart is always a fourth-grader. But they have the most incredible adventures one can imagine.

"Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire"
Homer does not get a Christmas bonus and Marge has to spend all the money to remove a tattoo of Bart's. But Homer wants to have a nice Christmas for his family and so he helps out as Santa at the mall.

My Opinion
The Simpsons are a cult show. But I think I haven't seen half the episodes, there are simply to much out there. And for my taste "The Simpsons" is not a show where I can watch countless episodes at once (which might be due to the fact that every episode is practically a reset to the beginning). But I really like it and when I find the time I watch a few episodes.
