My Neighbor Totoro, a review by Danae CassandraTonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro) Year of Release: 1988 Directed By: Hayao Miyazaki Starring: Lisa Michaelson, Cheryl Chase, Gregory Snegoff, Kenneth Hartman Genre: Fantasy Overview: Enter a whimsical "garden of earthly delights" (The New York Times), in this enchanting fantasy adventure that has become an international favorite of children around the world. Deep inside a tree trunk, two children discover a fascinating new world inhabited by Totoros - amazing, charming creatures who become their friends. Some are big, some are small, but all of them are furry, lovable and ready to do wondrous, magical things...like fly over mountains and make giant trees grow in the middle of the night! Best of all, Totoros can't be seen by adults, only the children who love them. With its imaginative characters, heartwarming story and striking animation by the award-winning Hayao Miyazaki, MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO is "certain to delight" (Los Angeles Times) again and again. My Thoughts: Totoro is a perfect film; charming, magical, nostalgic. Totoro is a movie of simple beauty, of the enchantment of childhood and the magic of nature. It's a film of patience and the unfolding of life around us. It's a film with a simple story and superb animation. It's a film about wonder, about growing up, about responsibility, about children who act like children, and the profound reality of being human. A perfect film. Sit back and enjoy. Bechdel Test: Pass Overall: 5/5 (From My Neighbor Totoro on March 24th, 2014) Devour, a review by addicted2dvdTV Stars in the Movies Marathon Title: Devour Year: 2005 Director: David Winkler Rating: R Length: 90 Min. Suddenly, Jack's violent visions are brought to life as the game begins transforming his terrifying daydreams into gruesome reality. Hoping to escape his waking nightmare, Jake turns to Marisol (Shannyn Sossamon, A Knight's Tale), a seductive new friend who dabbles in the mystic occult. Instead, the two find themselves confronting even greater horrors, including the terrifying secrets of Jack's dark family past, in this chilling psychological thriller. Extras: Scene Access Bonus Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is one I never seen before. Matter of fact I never even heard of it before I spotted it on the $3 rack at Big Lots. So I really wasn't sure what to expect going into this one. Just knew that the overview for the movie sounded interesting. Unfortunately I did get interrupted more then once during the movie... which I hate as it interrupts the flow of the movie. But it has a good story with some decent kills. I definitely enjoyed it. Though it is not the best horror movie I ever seen... I would say it is above average. I would say it is definitely worth taking a look at. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: TV Stars in the Movies on March 7th, 2010) Supernatural Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdSupernatural: Season 1 EPISODE 6: Skin A demonic shape-shifter adopts the likeness of Sam's college buddy to commit a gruesome murder. When the brother's investigate, the being "borrows" Dean's form to continue his killing spree. Guest Stars: Amy Grabow as Rebecca Peter Shinkoda as Alex Marrett Green as Anchorman Anita Brown as Lindsay My Thoughts: Another good episode. I liked how they worked in how Dean has some form of resentment to Sam... and now Sam knows it. I also liked how the Shape Shifter changed shapes... it was pretty gross.
