Crossing Over, a review by Rich

Crossing Over

Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones films) is on a quest for justice as an immigrations agent investigating the case of a missing illegal. In a cross-fire of crime and bureaucracy, fraud and murder, he must race against time to try to save a family from becoming collateral damage in the fight for the American dream. Critics rave, "Harrison Ford is terrific. An engrossing, thoroughly entertaining movie with great performances from a first-rate ensemble cast" (Pete Hammond, Hollywood.com). Co-starring Ashley Judd (Twisted), Ray Liotta (Smokin' Aces), Jim Sturgess (21), and Cliff Curtis (10,000 BC), Crossing Over will keep you riveted until the final mystery unfolds.

Average fare with Ford showing his age, and with his constant broodiness seen in several recent films not carrying it particularly well. What has happened to Liotta, did he get a welder to perform his plastic surgery?

For Americans some of the questions raised, and ironies and hipocracies shown surrounding immigration, will probably be more poignant than they were for me. But this storyline has been overdone in recent years, and typically better, and this just misses the mark in too many ways, it actually felt like a dot the dot formula for such a plot design.
Best to leave this one at the border  :-\

17 Again, a review by Rich

Title: 17 Again

Runtime:98
Certificate:12
Year:2009
Genres:Comedy

Plot:If you somehow had the chance, would you do your life over? Thirtysomething Mike O'Donnell would. Then one mysteriously magical moment, Mike gets his chance. He's suddenly back at Hayden High where he's the star of the basketball team, a total hottie and a classmate to his own teenage kids...which gives Mike a chance to go from not-so-good dad to really cool friend.
Zac Efron (Hairspray, the High School Musical movies) and Matthew Perry (Friends ) are 17 Again and fabulously funny as the younger and older Mike in a good-time time-warp comedy that proves the best year of your life is the one you're living right now.

My Review:
Tired old story, man unhappy with his life, gets visited by angel (in this case janitor), wishes he could go back in time, does and ends up at school with daughter hitting on him, sorts out nerdy son into popular kid, hits on wife, realises he doesn't want to change, goes back to proper age and he and wife live happily ever after.
And thats about it, except it stars the gorgeous Leslie Mann to add some beauty to this sorry excuse for a movie.
My Rating

[Rerun Marathon] Spaced, a review by Tom

9/10

A good last episode for this series. Sadly a third series will never materialize. Damn these short British TV series
But it makes it easier to revisit them regularly.
And we have Shaun and Hot Fuzz now instead which are nice consolations
