Conan: The Barbarian, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Jason Momoa as Conan Stephen Lang as Khalar Zym Rachel Nichols as Tamara Ron Perlman as Corin Rose McGowan as Marique Bob Sapp as Ukafa Plot: A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil. Extras:
My Thoughts: This is the second time I got to see this film. The first time I borrowed the DVD from the library shortly before leaving Maryland. Now I watched my own copy on Blu-ray. I thought they did a very good job on this one. Lots of great action... and I really liked Rose McGowan in this film. Loved her finger knives. Though she did look a little freaky in it... but freaky in a cool way. The one problem I do have about this Blu-ray is that there is no real extras on the disc... there was several things on the DVD... it is so weird there being more extras on the DVD then the Blu-ray. My Rating: (From The Alphabet Marathon: Blu-ray Edition on July 21st, 2014) Stan Helsing, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Steve Howey as Stan Diora Baird as Nadine Kenan Thompson as Teddy Desi Lydic as Mia Leslie Nielsen as Kay Plot: It's Halloween night, and video clerk Stan Helsing (Steve Howey of REBA) along with his sexy ex-girlfriend (Diora Baird of THE WEDDING CRASHERS and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING), his best buddy (Kenan Thompson of SNL) and an "exotic dancer/massage therapist" (Desi Lydic) - detour into a town cursed by parodies of 6 of the biggest monsters in movie history: Freddy (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET), Jason (FRIDAY THE 13TH), Pinhead (HELLRAISER), Leatherface (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE), Chucky (CHILD'S PLAY) and Michael Myers (HALLOWEEN). But when Stan discovers that he's a direct descendant of the legendary monster hunter Van Helsing, the four have to survive a night with the monsters, homicidal hitchhikers, vampire strippers, killer karaoke, and the temptations of lots of hot chicks. Did we mention that Leslie Nielsen of AIRPLANE! and THE NAKED GUN co-stars in this hysterical horror spoof written by one of the guys who brought you SCARY MOVIE? Now take this movie to the front of the store and pay the man! Extras:
My Thoughts: I used to be more into these spoof films then I am now. But I still enjoy one every now and then. This one is just average. It has a few decent laughs.... but for the most part it is just silly in a stupid way. Rating: (From Horror / Halloween 2017 Challenge on October 30th, 2017) "Due South" marathon, a review by addicted2dvdThe Gift Of The Wheelman This episode brings us a little Christmas in July. While not a bad episode... one that had a few laughs in it. this is my least favorite episode so far. And it could be that I am just not used to it yet... but I didn't care for the whole Fraser's father thing. I mean the show was so good without doing this. At this point at least it feels like a step backwards. It basically feels like to me that they are adding something into the mix that is just not needed. Maybe I will see it differently once I get to see him in it more.. but I don't know. My Rating: (From "Due South" marathon on July 6th, 2009) |
