Closer, a review by Rich

Title: Closer

Runtime:104
Certificate:14A
Year:2004
Genres:Drama, Comedy, Romance

Plot:A Witty, romantic, and very dangerous love story about chance meetings, instant atttractions, and casual betrayels. CLOSER is director Mike Nichols' critically acclaimed look at four strangers - Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen - with one thing in common: each other Adapted by Patrick Marber from his award-winning stage play.
My Review:
Oddball story about a quartet of individuals whose lives intertwine. Incredibly foul-mouthed and topic wise graphically sexual, all 4 character leads are totally messed up both sexually and relationship wise.
Amazing to see 4 such famous actors in this type of film, but there was something about it, like a trainwreck, where you couldn't stop watching. It jumps around timewise without notice, so at times it is difficult to follow, and by the end of the movie you are left feeling deflated emotionally.
Watched once, never again.

Plot:
Jeff Garlin ('Curb Your Enthusiasm') wrote, directed, and starred in this humerous look at a man who wants three things in life:
someone to love,
a great part,
and to loose weight.

Filled with hilarious performances from a great ensemble cast including Bonnie Hunt, Amy Sedaris, Richard Kind, Paul Mazursky, and Joey Slotnick.

Extras:
Commentary
Deleted Scenes
Scene Access

My Thoughts:
The movie is like a long episode of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm', just without Larry David.
It had some really funny moments. Besides that not something particularly special.

Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvd

American Gothic

Pilot
A traumatized young girl dies mysteriously, and some suspect the town's charming sheriff, who was the last person to see her alive.

My Thoughts:
This is a show I discovered on DVD after it was recommended to me by several people about 4 years ago. And I enjoyed every minute of it when I watched the series. This is the first time I re-watched an episode since then. And I must admit... I enjoyed it just as much this time as I did then. This is another one of those series that after watching the pilot here today I could watch the entire series again! A great horror/suspense series.
