Peeping Tom, a review by dfmorgan

Peeping Tom

Year: 1960
Director: Michael Powell
Cast: Carl Boehm, Moira Shearer, Anna Massey

OverviewWatched: 14th. Aug 2010
My Thoughts: OK not a film I can say I enjoyed however I did find it to be interesting. There are obvious similarities to Psycho, released the same year, in that the protagonist has been twisted by an overbearing parent and that they then go on to murder people. However whilst in Psycho we don't get clarity on the murderer until near the end of the film here we meet him committing his first offence at the beginning. Unlike Psycho this film kept me interested through to its completion. Hard to believe that it caused such a furore when it was released, especially when you look to todays offerings in the Saw  franchise and those from the Hostel and The Grudge stables, but it did and effectively killed off Michael Powell's career.

My Rating: An interesting 4

Pet Sematary, a review by addicted2dvd

Pet Sematary: Special Edition
After moving to an idyllic home in the countryside, life seems perfect for the Creed family... but not for long. Louis and Rachel Creed and their two young children settle in to a house that sits next door to a pet cemetery - built on ancient Indian burial ground. Their mysterious new neighbor, Jud Crandall (FRED GWYNNE), hides the cemetery's darkest secret... until a family tragedy brings the secret to life. Now, an unthinkable evil is about to be resurrected.

From STEPHEN KING, the Master of the Macabre, comes a journey that leads to hell and back. Though not everyone survives the trip. For the Creeds, home is where the horror is.

My Thoughts:
This is one of my all time favorite horror movies. As with most of the Stephen King movies... Stephen King himself has a cameo in the movie. This time as the preacher at the funeral for Mrs. Dandridge... the woman that helped the creed family in the beginning of the movie. This movie is one of the few movies that can make me cringe when watching it. actually from 2 things in the movie. First when Jud gets the back of his ankle sliced... the next when he is sliced across both cheeks when he is screaming. Both those look extremely painful to me. I couldn't even imagine. Not to mention.. this is a true horror movie for any parent. It even effected me... I had a time watching this movie when my daughter was about Gage's age... especially considering I live on a road that has a high school just down the street... you would not believe the way kids race up and down this road! There for the longest time I wouldn't even let my daughter play in the front yard at all!

I had the original bare-bones release of this movie... but being one of my all time favorites.. I was quick to upgrade when the special edition was released. I was hoping for more extras then I actually got... but it is much better then the first release. This DVD contains a Director's Commentary and 3 making of featurettes.  As I said... definitely an improvement.. but could have been better. I would have loved to of seen some deleted scenes on here... maybe a gag reel. Of course I have yet to watch any of the extras that is on there.. but I do know I will get to them.

OK... that concludes my double feature... when I saw that Denise Crosby was in Mortuary.... there was just no way I was not going to watch both movies. And let me tell you... I really enjoyed this double feature. Any thoughts on either of these movies is welcome and appreciated.

Smallville Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 3: Disc 3:

9. Asylum
Three of Clark's former opponents approach Lex to enlist his help in luring Clark to the hospital after they hear that Lionel has requested Lex be given electroshock therapy to erase his memory.

My Thoughts:
This was a good episode. I like that you get to see some of the past Freak of the Weeks... of course we once again get someone that learns and then forgets Clark's secret.

10. Whisper
Attempting to stop a robbery, Clark is temporarily blinded when he shoots off a burst of heat vision that is accidentally reflected back into his eyes by a piece of kryptonite and soon realizes his body has developed super-hearing to compensate for his lack of sight.

My Thoughts:
This is one of the ones I really like... of course this is the one where he gets his new power of the season. In this episode... I believe the only episode?... we get to meet Pete's mother... the judge when Pete gets kidnapped so that his mother don't send someone to jail.

11. Delete
Clark and Lana each make an attempt on Chloe's life for unknown reasons after they receive a mysterious e-mail from the Summerholt Institute.

My Thoughts:
This is another good episode. It has a lot of great action in it. I especially liked when Lana went after Chloe... that was a decent fight scene.

12. Hereafter
Clark discovers that his schoolmate Jordan can foresee the future, but is horrified when Jordan tells him he "sees" Lana dying in a fire in the next few days

My Thoughts:
I would say this is just a basic good episode... nothing too special here... but enjoyable. Was interesting when Jordan said he seen that Clark is different... that he didn't see his death like he won't die or something.
