Crossing Over, a review by Rich

Crossing Over

Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones films) is on a quest for justice as an immigrations agent investigating the case of a missing illegal. In a cross-fire of crime and bureaucracy, fraud and murder, he must race against time to try to save a family from becoming collateral damage in the fight for the American dream. Critics rave, "Harrison Ford is terrific. An engrossing, thoroughly entertaining movie with great performances from a first-rate ensemble cast" (Pete Hammond, Hollywood.com). Co-starring Ashley Judd (Twisted), Ray Liotta (Smokin' Aces), Jim Sturgess (21), and Cliff Curtis (10,000 BC), Crossing Over will keep you riveted until the final mystery unfolds.

Average fare with Ford showing his age, and with his constant broodiness seen in several recent films not carrying it particularly well. What has happened to Liotta, did he get a welder to perform his plastic surgery?

For Americans some of the questions raised, and ironies and hipocracies shown surrounding immigration, will probably be more poignant than they were for me. But this storyline has been overdone in recent years, and typically better, and this just misses the mark in too many ways, it actually felt like a dot the dot formula for such a plot design.
Best to leave this one at the border  :-\

2LDK, a review by Jimmy

Title : 2LDK (2002)

Overview
A twisted, skillfully paced black comedy, '2LDK' (2-Bedroom, Living Room, Dining Room & Kitchen) packs a startling amount of inventiveness, razor-sharp wit and filmmaking fervor to tell the story of two roommates at odds with the world and each other. Two struggling actresses share a Tokyo apartment. As they compete for the same film role and the same boyfriend, their petty squabbles soon turn into all-out war and when they break out the power tools and electrocution devices, you know these two ladies have forfeited more than their security deposit. Director Yukihiko Tsutsumi, one of the most promising young filmmakers in Japan, pushes his film's premise to the extreme, making for an unforgettable, non-stop barrage of laughs, fights and ultra-violence.

My Impression
I've got this one as a part of a 3 movies boxset and it was unknown to me the first time I've watched it (not this time). I really like this one, I'm familiar with the apartment sharing life with all the good and bad sides. Many little things usually get on our nerves and sometimes we want to react like the girls in this film

This is a 2 actresses show and they are quite good and attractive. The director make a good use of the short running time (1h10) and the movie didn't have any dead time. If you think that the Japanese cinema is just about the boring grey little girl ghost try this one, you'll pass a very good time in front of your tv or computer.

Smallville Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 2: Disc 3:

EPISODE 9: DOCHOTIC
Clark has his suspicions when an overachieving student goes on a date with Lana and Chloe at the exact same time. Meanwhile, Lex meets his future wife in anger management class.

My Thoughts:
This is a really good episode. Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Home Improvement)  plays the boy that can split in 2. I have to admit... every time I see the scene where :ex takes a 9 Iron to the meter maid's car a smile comes to my face.

EPISODE 10: SKINWALKER
He fell to Earth in a meteor shower. Shoots fire from his eyes. Sound like anyone you know? The story told in ancient cave drawings may relate to Clark's destiny and his new romance with a lovely Native American.

My Thoughts:
Another good episode. This is the one that started the long arc about the Indian caves that talks of Clark's destiny.  Though I must admit... even the first time I watched this episode I figured right away who the "Skinwalker" was.

EPISODE 11: VISAGE
Just when things are getting better between Lana and Clark, along comes ex-boyfriend and Marine recruit Whitney. But there's something about Whitney that doesn't seem right to Clark.

My Thoughts:
Yet another good episode. And the last appearance of Eric Johnson (Whitney) in the series. And the last appearance of the character Tina Greer... the "Freak of the Week" that was able to change her appearance into anyone.

EPISODE 12: INSURGENCE
There's only one way into the sealed-off Metropolis tower where Lionel and Martha are held captive at gunpoint, and that's to leap 200 feet from the adjacent 'Daily Planet' building. This sounds like a job for - wait: can youthful Clark really accomplish such an incredible feat?

My Thoughts
Wow... This disc is 4 for 4 on good episodes! In this episode we get the first real hint of Lionel Luthor's attraction to Martha. I loved the scene of Clark jumping from building to building. Really good episode.
