Extras: Commentary Featurettes Photo Gallery Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: This movie has some great scenes in it, like the biplane scene, but overall I found the movie boring. I had to force myself to stay awake (okay I was a little tired to begin with). My brother and I are always bothered by minor scenes in Hitchcock movies, which are just not realistic. The scene which caused my brother to exclaim this time, that he thinks Hitchcock had lost his grip on reality, was very early on. A car was chased by the police. The car stops and the police crashes into it. That in itself is a little unrealistic, but what follows is just stupid: Another car crashes into the police car. Why would this car follow a police car which had sirens on? And doing it keeping such a close distance to the police car, that he cannot avoid hitting it? It are scenes like this which always pull us out of the Hitchcock movies. Rating: (From Alfred Hitchcock Marathon on November 22nd, 2009) Silent Night, Deadly Night, a review by JimmyThis one was a little bit later on my list, but since Christmas is tomorrow... Silent Night, Deadly Night Years : 1984 Director : Charles E. Sellier Jr. Stars : Lilyan Chauvin Gilmer McCormick Toni Nero Robert Brian Wilson Synopsis : At Christmas night the parents of little Billy are kill by Santa Claus. He grew up in an orphanage where the mother superior teach him that the naughty people must be punish. Years later he find a job in a toy store and had a normal life untill he have to replace the store Santa Claus. All his past come at him and he'll became Santa Claus...a Santa who punish the naughty!!! Viewing experience : This is a great 80's slasher movie that I watch every year when Christmas arrive. Contrary to the others slasher films of this period, the action of the killer don't happen for no reason : All the people killed have a logic reason to be (for this kind of movie). Robert Brian Wilson have only this film to his credit (some tv figuration only) and it's surprising, since he did a goob job. Linnea Quigley is in the cast and that's always a good thing. A very good way to pass a pleasant time in front of the TV, this movie is on the top class of the 80's slasher. The second part is good too, but more funny that anything else. Rating : 3,5/5 Movie Trailer : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK-85acDd5s I have the old Anchor Bay release with the part 1 and 2 who is now out of print. But, a new edition with the first part only was release the 11 december by Anchor Bay again. P.S : Pete you don't seem to have it on your collection give it a try. I think that you will like it. Futurama 1.01 Space Pilot 3000 Writer: David X. Cohen (Writer), Matt Groening (Writer) Director: Rich Moore, Gregg Vanzo Cast: Billy West (Fry/Farnsworth/Zoidberg/Various (voice)), Katey Sagal (Leela (voice)), John DiMaggio (Bender/Various (voice)), Dick Clark (Himself (voice)), Leonard Nimoy (Himself (voice)), Tress MacNeille (Various (voice)), Dave Herman (Various (voice)), Kath Soucie (Michelle (voice)) I have been a fan of this series since day one. It's nice to finally see the first episode again. It has been awhile. I forgot that it started out with Fry running from Leela because he wanted to avoid to have a career chip implanted. They have dropped this concept later it seems. And sure enough, you can really see Nibbler's shadow in the scene where Fry falls into the freezer. It was an episode in a later season which revealed that it was no accident that he was frozen, but caused by Nibbler when he travelled back in time to ensure Fry being frozen. Is it me, or are the voices that Billy West is doing (Fry/Farnsworth) a little different than later in the series? Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on June 20th, 2011) |
