Cabin in the Woods, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Sigourney Weaver as The Director Kristen Connolly as Dana Chris Hemsworth as Curt Anna Hutchison as Jules Fran Kranz as Marty Jesse Williams as Holden Plot: A rambunctious group of five college friends steal away for a weekend of debauchery in an isolated country cabin, only to be attacked by horrific supernatural creatures in a night of endless terror and bloodshed. Sound familiar? Just wait. As the teens begin to exhibit standard horror-movie behavior, a group of technicians in a control room are scrutinizing, and sometimes even controlling, every move the terrified kids make! With their efforts continually thwarted by an all-powerful "eye in the sky," do they have any chance of escape? Extras:
My Thoughts: Watched this one today... I seen this once before during last year's Ocober marathon. I enjoyed it just as much this time as I did last time. I found it to just be a fun film with a nice amount of gore and lots of creatures. Definitely worth the time put in to watch it. My Rating: Scorecard: TV Eps: 6 Movies: 4 (From Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon on October 3rd, 2014) Day of the Dead, a review by JimmyTitle : Day of the Dead (1985) Overview In this third and final shocker in the legendary trilogy from writer/director George A. Romero (DAWN OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD), a small group of scientists and soldiers have taken refuge in an underground missle silo where they struggle to control the flesh-eating horror that walks the earth above. But will the final battle for the future of the human race be fought among the living or have they forever unleashed the hunger of the dead? Lori Cardille, Joe Pilato, Richard Liberty and Howard Sherman star in this controversial classic with groundbreaking gore effects by Tom Savini and featuring the most intense zombie carnage ever filmed. My Impression Surprise, I review a well known movie. You see I can watch mainstream film sometimes For me this is the zombie movie, yes Dawn of the Dead is also good but it is just too cartoony to be taken seriously. This one had all the ingredients for the perfect zombie movie receipe : great acting (overacting some will say but not necessarily the case), great special effect by a Tom Savini at the height of his art, a claustrophobic mood, a complete schizophrenic crazyness (no one is mentally stable in this building, except for the chopper pilot) and a fear created by the number and not the speed. What can I add? Nothing really since it's the best movie Romero had ever done after Martin. Extras: Commentary Featurettes Scene Access Storyboard Comparisons My Thoughts: After watching the animated Wonder Woman movie recently, I got into the mood watching the second volume of the rebooted He-Man series, as the animation and character design in Wonder Woman reminded me of this series. I enjoyed watching it so much, that I watched all 13 episodes of this volume in two sittings. This volume (which is the second half of the first season) finishes with a great cliffhanger.
