Poltergeist, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Craig T. Nelson JoBeth Williams Beatrice Straight Dominique Dunne Oliver Robins Heather O'Rourke Plot: "They're here." And they seem almost whimsical at first, playing stack-the-chair games in the kitchen of the Freelings' suburban home. Then things turn darker. A storm erupts, a tree attacks, little Carol Anne Freeling is whisked into a spectral void. And as her family confronts a chain reaction of horrors and fights to bring the youngster back, something else is here too: a new benchmark in Hollywood ghost stories. Producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall and director Tobe Hooper head the elite scream team of this spooktacular whose nerve-jangling effects include floating phantasms, the fiercest monster ever to pop out of a closet and an entire house collapsing into nothingness. Welcome to Home Sweet Haunted Home. Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: I haven't watched this one is quite some time. While the movie does have a bit of a slow start... it definitely makes up for it with a great story. The haunting starts pretty mild... moving things around and such much to the enjoyment and entertainment of the mother. But before you know it things takes a turn for the worse. It has been so long since I watched this one that I forgot how good it is. I enjoyed every minute of watching this one again. If by any chance you have not seen this movie before... I highly recommend it. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 Count: Movie Count: 49 TV Ep. Count: 17 Other Count: 3 (From Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon: 2010 on October 13th, 2010) Speedway, a review by KinkyCyborgTitle:Speedway Year: 1968 Director: Norman Taurog Rating: NR Length: 94 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.40:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Mono, French: Dolby Digital: Mono Subtitles: Chinese, English, French, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Other Stars: Elvis Presley Nancy Sinatra Bill Bixby Gale Gordon William Schallert Plot: He races. She chases. Yet love and laughter find a way when "World 600" stock car driver Elvis meets Internal Revenue Service collection agent Nancy Sinatra in Speedway. "There Ain't Nothing like a Song," pedal-to-the-metal Elvis and go-go-booted Nancy sing. For the first time since he and Ann-Margret proclaimed 'Viva Las Vegas', Presley pairs with a high-octane singing, dancing leading lady. Bill Bixby is the manager who mismanages Presley into a $145,000 jam with the IRS and laughs are further fueled by veteran TV funnymen Gale Gordon ('The Lucy Show') and Carl Ballantine ('McHale's Navy'). The supersonic songlist includes 'Let Yourself Go', 'Your Time Hasn't Come Yet', 'Baby' and 'Your Groovy Self'. Have a groovy time! Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: Days Of Thunder The Musical... Much better than Harum Scarum all around. Better music, better story and better acting. Bill Bixby was a hoot as The King's racing manager. They also figured out how to make Elvis's cheesy songs sound better... they got Nancy Sinatra to sing! Yeeesh! The only thing worse than her singing was her dancing. It was like watching a medical show on Cerebral Palsy set to snappy music. At least Elvis had some moves. I've noticed a common theme with Elvis movies and that is the inclusion of young children. He always has a singing number just for them and you can see through his acting and tell that he genuinely loved working with the kids which I think is great. My next one I get to pick before I watch the final Elvis movie... I wonder what it will be...
