My Thoughts:
I always enjoyed this movie since I first got it on DVD. Sadly this movie didn't do well at the box-office. I remember seeing a trailer at the time, with which I thought this was a kiddie movie. This is what a lot of people seemed to think and didn't go to see this at the cinema. But on DVD it became a huge hit.
This movie combines traditional 2D hand-drawn characters put into a 3D animated CGI environment.
For that time the animation was really great. Also it does not quite hold up against current animation, I still enjoyed it. The Ice Rings scene is as good as I remembered. What I always enjoyed about this movie is the soundtrack (I even bought the CD). I especially like the "It's My Turn To Fly" scene and the music when they reparing the ship at the drifter colony.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, a review by Danae Cassandra

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
Year of Release: 2013
Directed By: Tommy Wirkola
Starring: Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen, Pihla Viitala
Genre: Action, Horror

Overview:
Get ready for a twisted take on the classic tale as Hansel (JEREMY RENNER) and Gretel (GEMMA ARTERTON) have turned pro, coping with the trauma of their childhood captivity by slaying witches for hire. But when seemingly unstoppable bounty hunters meet their match in an enemy so evil, it'll take all their training, weapons and courage to survive. PAYBACK IS A WITCH!

My Thoughts:
This is mindless action-horror, but I enjoy this a lot more than I probably should. I find this film a lot of really silly fun. Maybe I've played too much D&D, cause this is a D&D adventure. Maybe that it's the fun of the steampunk stylings or the genre mashup, both of which I enjoy. Or maybe I just really like Jeremy Renner. I think it's that one. Definitely that one.

Nominated for two Golden Globes and winner of the People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy, My Name is Earl is wildly offbeat and hilariously irreverent - the #1 new comedy of the season!

My Name Is Earl

Writer: Greg Garcia (Writer)
Director: Marc Buckland
Cast: Jason Lee (Earl), Ethan Suplee (Randy), Jaime Pressly (Joy), Nadine Velazquez (Catalina), Eddie Steeples (Darnell), Leo Fitzpatrick (Sonny), Gregg Binkley (Kenny), Dale Dickey (Patty), Carson Daly (Himself), Trace Adkins (Himself), Laura Gardner (Kenny's Mom), Frank Collison (Kenny's Dad), Noah Crawford (Young Earl), Andy Pessoa (Young Kenny), Patrick McCarthy (Teacher), William Belli (D.J.), Deborah Cresswell (Wanda), Louis T. Moyle (Dodge), Trey Carlisle (Earl Jr.)

A great first episode to a great series. All the important elements are already here. Even little things like Earl always having is eyes closed in photos.
Towards the end the series grew tired though. So I was not sad that it when it was cancelled. To bad though that it didn't get a proper closure.
