Plot:Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Bonus Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Music Videos Closed Captioned My Thoughts: I have been a fan of the Fantastic Four since watching the cartoon series from back in the '60s or '70s when I was a kid. Forgive me for using the obvious word here... but going by my memory of the show... I think they did a Fantastic job bringing the characters to life. I liked everyone in this movie. And that is saying something since this is the first (and so far only) thing I have seen that I actually like Julian McMahon in. But I thought he did a great job here. I think Chris Evans got The Human Torch dead on. Jessica Alba was awesome as Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman). I remember when I first heard they were doing this movie I was concerned how The Thing would look in the movie... but that impressed me as well. I think the origin story is both interesting and fun. And I loved the scene on the bridge where the team first came to be. This is one I would definitely recommend. I enjoyed every minute of it. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: TV Stars in the Movies on March 5th, 2010) Gamera 2: Attack of the Legion, a review by Danae CassandraGamera 2: Attack of the Legion Year of Release: 1996 Directed By: Shusuke Kaneko Starring: Akiji Kobayashi, Toshiyuki Nagashima, Miki Mizuno, Tamotsu Ishibashi Genre: Action, Science-Fiction, Tokusatsu, Kaiju Overview: Ten thousand years ago, an advanced civilization created the Gyaos to eliminate rampant pollution. However, the Gyaos grew stronger, started breeding and began feasting on humans. For protection, the Gameras were created to fend off the attacks. The onslaught of the Gyaos was eventually halted, and they were forced into hibernation. Despite the best efforts of its people, the advanced civilization was ruined. So, the scientists preserved the last remaining Gamera and bequeathed him to the next civilization, should the Gyaos ever return. A new threat involving extraterrestrials hoping to colonize on Earth requires Gamera to ward off insect-like alien soldiers dubbed "Legion." My Thoughts: Just as good as Guardian of the Universe. Gamera looks awesome here, and Legion is a bad-ass kaiju foe. Seriously, the design for the Legion and its Queen are really great. Possibly the best designed foe for Gamera thus far and the biggest threat. The human story isn't quite as developed as GotU but the spread of the Legion and the reactions of the people are pretty realistic. I like that the 90's films don't make the humans so stupid and useless as the Showa era ones did. If you're new to kaiju films and not into cheese, these are totally the Gamera films to watch. They're also the ones to watch if you're not new to kaiju. Really looking forward to the third one. Bechdel Test: Pass Overall: 3.5/5 (From Gamera! on February 28th, 2016) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: At long last, Garry Shandling's comedy series about the twisted inner workings of a late-night talk show comes to DVD...all of it. Larry Sanders (Garry Shandling) is a neurotic late-night talk show host flanked by Artie (Rip Torn), his caustic, foul-mouthed producer, and "Hey Now" Hank Kingsley (Jeffrey Tambor), his affection-thirsty sidekick. Off-air it's all train wrecks and egos, but when the lights go down and the theme music kicks in, you get late-night at its finest. Also starring Linda Doucett, Janeane Garofalo, Penny Johnson, Wallace Langham, Bob Odenkirk, Jeremy Piven, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Sarah Silverman, Scott Thompson, and written and produced by Garry Shandling, Peter Tolan and Judd Apatow, The Larry Sanders Show was the hippest TV show...probably ever. The Larry Sanders Show 1.01 What Have You Done For Me Lately? (AKA Garden Weasel) Writer: Garry Shandling (Created By), Dennis Klein (Created By), Peter Tolan (Writer) Director: Ken Kwapis Cast: Garry Shandling (Larry Sanders), Jeffrey Tambor (Hank Kingsley), Megan Gallagher (Jeannie Sanders), Wallace Langham (Phil), Jeremy Piven (Jerry), Penny Johnson (Beverly), Linda Doucett (Darlene), Janeane Garofalo (Paula), Rip Torn (Arthur), Robert Hays (Himself), Deborah May (Melanie), Sam Whipple), James Karen), Rif Hutton), Harley Venton), Kathy Kinney) A fun series about the behind the scenes of a daily late-night talk show. With Garry Shandling as the talk show host. I especially love about this series, that it has real-live celebrities as guests parodying themselves.
