Elena Undone, a review by Tom
Stars: Necar Zadegan as Elena Traci Dinwiddie as Peyton Gary Weeks as Barry Sam Harris as Tyler Connor Kramme as Nash Plot: Falling for a woman was an unimaginable situation for wife, mother and church-goer Elena (Necar Zadegan, 24). However when her friendship with out lesbian writer Peyton (Traci Dinwiddie, Supernatural) transforms swiftly from a one-sided crush into a torrid extramarital affair, her supposedly heterosexual world is turned upside down. Coming out of the closet won't be easy, with Peyton by her side, Elena is determined to put right all the wrongs and be true to herself. Celebrated writer/director Nicole Conn (Claire of the Moon, Cynara) has crafted a beautiful tale of lesbian love, family commitments and everything in between is the ultimate ode to star-crossed lovers and desires that know no bounds. Extras:
My Thoughts: A nice movie. One of the better independently produced lesbian themed movies. Though no real surprises. It holds the record of the longest movie kiss "organic to the film".The actors all did a great job. Rating: (From Lesbian Movie Marathon on February 12th, 2011) Brave, a review by Danae CassandraFilm #6 of Scavenger Hunt #22 Task #14: Watch a film from any director (or Pixar) who has made exactly 17 films Brave Year of Release: 2012 Directed By: Mark Andrews, Brenda Chapman Starring: Kelly MacDonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Animation Overview: Pixar Animation Studios, the creator of Toy Story 3, whisks you away on an astonishing adventure to an ancient land full of mystery and tradition. Bursting with heart, unforgettable characters and Pixar's signature humor, Brave is "a rousing, gorgeously animated good time," raves Peter Travers of Rolling StoneMy Thoughts: This is one of the very best of Pixar's films. It's wonderfully animated, has great voice work, and is also a great fairy tale. Yes, it's a pretty simple story, but that's what a fairy tale is. It's been five years since it came out now, and it's still a very unique film - it's hard to find a female-centered children's film like this one. Brave isn't about romance and has a strong mother figure. Merida is a wonderful, strong character with plenty of flaws to make her believable. Her mother, Elinor, is the same - a strong, good role model in many ways, but with believable flaws. Great messages, marvelous animation, lots of fun. Recommended for everyone. Bechdel Test: Pass Mako Mori Test: Pass Overall: 4/5 (From Scavenger Hunt #22 on January 7th, 2017) Firefly Marathon, a review by Tom05. Safe Writer: Drew Z. Greenberg (Writer) Director: Michael Grossman Cast: Nathan Fillion (Mal), Gina Torres (Zoe), Alan Tudyk (Wash), Morena Baccarin (Inara), Adam Baldwin (Jayne), Jewel Staite (Kaylee), Sean Maher (Simon), Summer Glau (River), Ron Glass (Shepherd Book), Isabella Hofmann (Regan Tam), William Converse-Roberts (Gabriel Tam), John Thaddeus (Stark), Gary Werntz (Patron), Andrew A. Rolfes (Older Grange), Mathew C. Ferreira (Younger Grange), Joel Steingold (Head Cop), Erica N. Tazel (Doralee), Ron Ostrow (Commander), Morina Pierce (Ruby), Skylar Roberge (Young River), Zac Efron (Young Simon) Nice to see more of River. Also some other great scenes. Like Kaylee's confronting Simon because he says bad things about Serenity's crew lifestyle. And we get a hint that Shepherd Book has an interesting past which sadly they never had the chance to explore. Rating: (From Firefly Marathon on February 27th, 2010) |
