The Wicker Man, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: The Wicker Man Year: 1973 Director: Robin Hardy Rating: R Length: 88 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, English: Dolby Digital Mono Subtitles: Stars: Edward Woodward Christopher Lee Diane Cilento Britt Ekland Ingrid Pitt Plot: When a young girl mysteriously disappears, Police Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward of THE EQUALIZER) travels to a remote Scottish island to investigate. But this pastoral community, led by the strange Lord Summerisle (a brilliant performance by the legendary Christopher Lee), is not what it seems as the devout Christian detective soon uncovers a secret society of wanton lust and pagan blasphemy. Can Howie now stop the cult's ultimate sacrifice before he himself comes face-to-face with the horror of THE WICKER MAN? Britt Ekland, Diane Cilento and Ingrid Pitt co-star in this provocative shocker written by Anthony Schaffer (SLEUTH, FRENZY) that fans and critics worldwide still consider a true cult classic and a modern horror masterpiece. This is the acclaimed U.S. theatrical version of THE WICKER MAN, now fully restored from original vault materials for the first time ever. Extras: Scene Access Trailers Featurettes Production Notes Radio Spots My Thoughts: First let me say I appreciate Achim sending this movie to me. But with that said... this movie really wasn't my thing. I found it to be very strange. And there was just too much singing for my taste... and not just singing... but singing for what seems to be no reason. Sure there was the appeal of the scenes of nudity.... but a movie needs more then that. The storyline of the missing girl had possibilities... but the rest of it was so weird that I lost interest in that storyline pretty early. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this type of movie and may have better luck at another time. But I just couldn't make it through it this time around. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Anything Goes on January 24th, 2010) An American Werewolf in Paris, a review by addicted2dvdAn American Werewolf in Paris This hip edgy thriller - in the electrifying tradition of Scream, Scream 2 and From Dusk Till Dawn - delivers a howling good time with a hot young cast of stars! On the loose in Europe, three wild college grads bring their "Daredevil Tour" to Paris in search of some serious fun. There, Andy (Tom Everett Scott - That Thing You Do) falls for the beautiful and mysterious girl of his dreams (Julie Delpy - The Three Musketeers). The only problem is...when the moon is full, Andy's dream girl turns into a total nightmare! Rocking with a cool soundtrack featuring today's hottest cutting-edge recording artists, An American Werewolf In Paris is an outrageously thrilling adventure you don't want to miss! My Thoughts: I remember when I first got this sequel 6 years ago... that I was not thrilled with it. And the fact that I have never watched it again till now had me not expecting much at all from it today. I tell you.. this movie isn't worthy of being a sequel to An American Werewolf in London! It fails miserably at even coming close to the bar that An American Werewolf in London set. That being said... it really isn't totally bad. I did like the girl, Serafine (played by Julie Delpy), quite a bit in this one. Not that Jenny Agutter was bad at all in the first one. This is just no more then a decent average werewolf romp. Not something that I will probably watch often. But entertaining every great now and then. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Werewolves on May 8th, 2009) The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Sixth Season, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Johnny Galecki as Leonard Hofstadter Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper Kaley Cuoco as Kaley Cuoco Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz Kunal Nayyar as Rajesh Koothrappali Mayim Bialik as Amy Melissa Rauch as Bernadette My Thoughts: Well that is it. I already finished watching this set. Another great season filled with laugh out loud moments. I really couldn't suggest this series high enough. I feel safe in saying this show is my favorite current sitcom... if not my all-time favorite sitcom. I always find it so easy to watch this show. No matter how long ago I seen the episode before. Matter of fact (while I am not going to do it... I could easily start at season 1 again now.... and re-watch all 6 seasons again. This season while probably not my favorite season... is definitely up there... a must see!My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on September 12th, 2013) |
