The Matrix, a review by DJ Doena

October, 30th

Keanu Reeves   ...    Neo
Laurence Fishburne   ...    Morpheus
Carrie-Anne Moss   ...    Trinity
Hugo Weaving   ...    Agent Smith
Gloria Foster   ...    Oracle
Joe Pantoliano   ...    Cypher
Marcus Chong   ...    Tank

Synopsis: By day, Thomas Anderson is a software programmer in a respectable company. By night, Neo is a hacker. For years he's been searching for an answer to a question that is gnawing in his mind: What is the Matrix? The answer to that question is beyond anything he could have imagined and will change his life forever. And it will change not only him, but the world.

My Opinion: It's still a great movie and was certainly a milestone in film's history. Just the amount of movies that have re-used or parodied the bullet-time effect is incredible. The effect scenes like the shoot-out in the foyer or the final battle between Agent Smith and Neo are wonderfully choreographed. And you can even see the details because there are not 20 cuts and angle changes in 30 seconds like in more modern action flicks.

My Thoughts:
This is one I caught on cable a while back... and remember enjoying it.... wanting to eventually add it to my collection. And thanks to a friend I now have it. After watching the DVD I still find it an entertaining and fun little romantic comedy... with a bit of a twist. It does get a little on the silly side at times. But definitely worth seeing. I would have liked to of seen a few more extras on the DVD though. Maybe a gag reel and possibly a commentary track with the stars... they must of had fun making this one.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

The IT Crowd: Version 3.0 - (mini) marathon, a review by Achim

2. Are We Not men?
Hilarious how Roy and Moss blend in with "proper men"; bluffball.com provides the needed phrases for conversation on a daily basis. There is a few scenes that have less laughs than usual but they are needed to set up the plot and the whole episode feels more complete that way.

...and of course there is also the driving instructor. :D
