Wunderland, a review by Antares

Wunderland (2018) 5/100, Hurricane (2018) 60/100 - YouTube tossed a pair of war films at me last night from 2018. I'm not going to say much about them, but I would like to say this...Films about World War II are no longer necessary! Everything that has needed to be put on film concerning that war has already been done and directors and screenwriters who are the grandchildren of those who fought in it are not qualified to give those events an honest rendering. The former film is so poorly written, acted & directed, it boggles the mind that someone put up the amount of money necessary to make it. Historical inaccuracies at every turn and some mind numbing wokeness thrown in to make it a complete shit sandwich. The latter film really makes me long for the hallowed war film days of Tora! Tora! Tora! or The Battle of Britain. You know, when they used ACTUAL airplanes from the era to create the flight sequences. CGI air battles are comical and defy all the laws of physics. A better story for this film and Stefanie Martini doing her best imitation of a fully clothed Kate Winslet.

Teal = Masterpiece
Dark Green = Classic or someday will be
Lime Green = A good, entertaining film
Orange = Average
Red = Cinemuck
Brown = The color of crap, which this film is

Stars:Plot:
As the city faces the worst heat wave in 150 years, the municipal workers go on strike and the garbage begins to pile up. As it slowly leaks into the street, rats begin to crawl out from under the concrete and the shadows, searching for food. But this is a new, faster breed of rodent, and soon, they are everywhere - creeping out of toilets, into beds and over tables. And if the infestation of fat gray masses isn't terrifying enough, it's soon discovered that the rats are carring a horrible virus, which makes then almost impossible to exterminate - and deadly to humans.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie I got very cheap on sale ($3.19) back in October when I was buying movies for my October Marathon. I never got around to this one at that time. Luckily I didn't pay too much for this one... as I really didn't care too much for this one. It just didn't keep my attention very much. I don't know that it is... but it felt like I was watching a TV Movie. While there was a couple good scenes in it... this movie is so slow that I really struggled to keep my attention on the movie. But it really wasn't meant to be. About an hour into the movie I was so bored I had to turn it off. For those couple good scenes I will give this movie 1 star... but I can't bring myself to do any better then that as it was just too boring.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Year: 2002
Director:
Rating: NR

Plot:
Now for the first time on DVD, it's the Emmy Award Winning 2002 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series! You have the power to re-live these first 13 episodes in this volume one of a three-volume series. Start with the three-part movie that shows how Prince Adam became He-Man as he leads Man-At-Arms, Teela, Ram Man, Buzz-Off, Mekanek and the other Masters of the Universe as they battle Skeletor, Trap Jaw, Tri-Klops, Evil-Lyn, Mer-Man and the other classic villains for control of Eternia.

This fresh take on the retro favorite delighted and entertained a new generation of fans as well as those who grew up watching the beloved series in the '80s.

My Thoughts:

A remake of a classic 80's TV series which has done it right. It did not change the things we are familiar with all that much, but deepened the characters' background which were only hinted at in the original series. The animation is also done well. And finally it is believable that the other characters do not recognize Prince Adam as He-Man.
Too bad it only lasted 1 1/2 seasons. Probably the reason was, that this series appealed more to old fans than the new generation which was targeted to buy the new toyline. I really would have liked to see an updated version of She-Ra who was said would have come down the road.

What I found quite amusing is, that they gave Stratos a voice which sound remarkably like Sean Connery. And when Stratos said "I never thought I will see this: A dragon being on our side", I had to think of Sean Connery's movie Dragonheart ;D. I wonder if this line was intentionally a reference to Dragonheart.
