The Day After Tomorrow, a review by DVDsRGreat

Title: The day after tomorrow

Overview:
In this pulse-pounding action-thriller, global warming triggers the onset of a new Ice Age. As tornadoes flatten Los Angeles, a tidal wave engulfs New York City and the entire Northern Hemisphere begins to freeze solid. Now, climatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid), his son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) and a small band of survivors must ride out the growing superstorm and stay alive in the face of an enemy more powerful and relentless than any they've ever encountered: Mother Nature!

My Thoughts
This is one of those movies I never seem to get tired of watching. This maybe the fourth or fifth time I'm watching this. I really enjoy the whole apocalypse plot even though it's over the top, not to mention the brilliant special effects (seeing that ship float into Manhattan is a treat).

Identity, a review by Danae Cassandra

Identity
Year of Release: 2003
Directed By: James Mangold
Starring: John Cusack, Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet, John Hawkes
Genre: Suspense/Thriller

Overview:
What if there really were no coincidences in life and our destinies were already predetermined?

Ten strangers with secrets are brought together in a savage rainstorm: A limo driver (John Cusack), an '80s TV star (Rebecca DeMornay), a cop (Ray Liotta) who is transporting a killer (Jake Busey), a call girl (Amanda Peet), a pair of newlyweds (Clea DuVall and William Lee Scott) and a family in crisis (John C. McGinley, Leila Kenzle, Bret Loehr), all take shelter at a desolate motel run by a nervous night manager (John Hawkes). Relief in finding shelter is quickly replaced with fear as the ten travelers begin to die, one by one. They soon realize that, if they are to survive, they'll have to uncover the secret that has brought them all together.

My Thoughts:
I found this to be a really entertaining, suspenseful film.  Looking at things from the end, I can see how clues were set up, but watching the film I didn't have it fully figured out until the reveal.  Yes, early on the film does let you know that there is more to this than the obvious (escape from the motel only bringing one character back to the motel) and it gives it this Twilight Zone-esque feel at that point, but I was still wondering exactly what was going on and exactly who was the culprit.  Yes, I did have suspicions towards the correct answer, but I also thought the film did a good job misdirecting the viewer.  The performances are all good, though Cusack was the standout for me.  All in all, very good film, solid recommendation for just about anyone.

Bechdel Test:

Overall: 4/5

Dark Angel Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 2: Disc 2

4. Radar Love
Max and Logan must aside their complicated and lethal feelings for one another, when they investigate a series of unusual deaths and uncover a genocidal agenda linked to transgenic escapees.

My Thoughts:
This is a good episode... though nothing big... or special happens in it... just a basic good episode.

5. Boo
On Halloween night, Max finds her "normal" world turned upside down when the creatures she let out of Manticore are able to walk the streets freely without fear of exposure. As she and Joshua, with a crazy band of characters, race against time to find a headless body before it carries out its intended lethal mission, Max is faced with the reality that Asha and Logan are getting closer than ever.

My Thoughts:
OK... Now this episode I love! It is definitely one of my favorites of the whole series. I know I don't care to much for the mutant looking transgenics... but this episode really makes up for it. I love Halloween episodes of any and all TV Series... but in this case it works perfectly with the  show itself. And another thing I liked is that they didn't take this episode seriously at all... it is more like the total opposite.... they seemed to go out of their way to be silly and just have fun. Which is what this episode is... just plain fun!

6. Two
Disturbed by Joshua's unusual behavior, as well as Alec's new job working at Jam Pony, Max's concern for Joshua is heightened when sector police killings are attributed to a "beast-like" creature.

My Thoughts:
Now of course back to being more serious... this one is another really good episode. Shows that even then Manticore made more then one of each mutant/soldier.

7. Some Assembly Required
Max discovers that Zack is not only alive but apparently benefiting from some cybernetic enhancements to his genetic engineering, however he does have memory problems.

My Thoughts:
I bet that by this point you thought you would never see Zack again... but here he is. This is a good episode. Of course where he wasn't remembering everything... and only remembering small pieces at a time... they had to have it so he remembered some stuff wrong. Good episode with lots of action. Enjoyed it!
