The Lost Boys, a review by AntaresThe Lost Boys (1978) 2.5/5 - A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon the film Finding Neverland on HDNet. It told a rather fanciful and creative tale of the author J.M.Barrie, and his relationship with five brothers growing up in England around the turn of the 20th century. The boys would be the basis for the creation of Barrie's most famous work, Peter Pan. When I wrote that review, I mentioned that I had never read the book, nor seen the famous Disney film. But due to its rather creative way of the spinning its story, had completely absorbed me. After I watch something that is based upon an historical character, I always find myself scouring the web, to get more in depth knowledge of said character. When I perused many articles about Barrie and his relationship with the Llewellyn Davies brothers, I kept reading about a BBC mini-series which chronicled the same story as Finding Neverland. That film had a more dubious reputation when it came to the historical accuracy of its story, but had been such a delight to watch, that I forgave it for its shortcomings in the truth department. The Lost Boys (From Antares' Short Summations on March 8th, 2012) A Time to Kill, a review by TomTitle: A Time to Kill Year: 1996 Director: Joel Schumacher Rating: 15 Length: 150 Min. Video: Widescreen 2.40 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, English: Dolby Digital TrueHD, French: Dolby Digital 5.1, German: Dolby Digital 5.1, Italian: Dolby Digital Stereo, Spanish: Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish: Dolby Digital Stereo, Portuguese: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish Stars: Matthew McConaughey Sandra Bullock Samuel L. Jackson Kevin Spacey Oliver Platt Plot: John Grisham's best seller A Time to Kill hits the screen with incendiary force, directed by Joel Schumacher (The Client). Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson, Matthew McConaughey and Kevin Spacey play the principals in a murder trial that brings a small Mississippi town's racial tensions to the flashpoint. Amid activist marches, Klan terror, media clamor and brutal riots, an unseasoned but idealistic attorney mounts a stirring courtroom battle for justice. The superb ensemble also includes Brenda Fricker, Oliver Platt, Charles S. Dutton, Ashley Judd, Patrick McGoohan, Chris Cooper and both Donald and Kiefer Sutherland. Extras: Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: I like courtroom dramas where an underdog is tried, and with some cunning moves by his attorney is aquitted. This is such a kind of movie and I liked it.But I think the drama outside the courtroom has too much focus and is overdramatized in my opinion. Funny moment: The judge compares Sandra Bullock to Lois Lane. At the moment I thought: Hey, you are right! She would be the perfect Lois Lane! Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on June 13th, 2009) Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman: The Complete Fourth Season, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Dean Cain as Clark Kent/Superman Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane Lane Smith as Perry White Justin Whalin as Jimmy Olsen Eddie Jones as Jonathan Kent K Callan as Martha Kent Extras:
My Thoughts: Well... I did it! I watched all four seasons! Which is odd since when I started I didn't think I was going to watch much more then the pilot episode. This season I enjoyed just as much as the first two seasons. Season three was the only season to go down in my eyes. Mainly because of how hard they worked to keep Lois and Clark apart the entire season. This final season once again has a nice selection of guest stars... this time including Justine Bateman, David Doyle, Delta Burke, Jasmine Guy, Antonio Sabato, Jr., Drew Carey, Kathy Kinney, Howie Mandel, Tom Wilson, Nancy Dussault, Fred Willard, Tim Thomerson, Grant Shaud and Harry Anderson.I am disappointed on how this season ended. It is fine for a season finale.... but disappointing as a series finale. As it set itself up for a fifth season. Of course they thought there would be a fifth season anyway. But still disappointing to see it end this way and not get any more episodes. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on August 8th, 2011) |
