Batman & Robin, a review by addicted2dvd

Batman & Robin
Chills and Thrills: Will Gotham City be put on ice? George Clooney is Batman as the Dark Knight battles his greatest threat yet: cold-hearted Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and venomous Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman). Batman has more than Gotham City to protect: the youthful eagerness of crimefighting comrades Robin (Chris O'Donnell) and Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone) puts them frequently in harm's way. New 'very' special effects include a wild sky-surfing sequence and Freeze's outrageous ice-blasting arsenal. It's state-of-the-art excitement from our Batfamily to yours!

My Thoughts:
George Clooney takes over the role in this one. First thing I notice when watching this one is I don't really care for George Clooney as Batman. I mean he did an OK job but I think  Micheal Keaton, Val Kilmer and Christian Bale all did much better. I know a lot of people feel this is a God-Aweful movie... and I agree it is not what someone thinks of when they think of good movies. And I can even see how it is considered a bad movie. Watching it tonight even showed me that it is not even as good as I was remembering it to be. But even with that... it is a movie I enjoy watching. I guess this is just a guilty pleasure type of movie for me.... even while watching it I am asking myself why am I enjoying this as much as I am? But that is OK... as long as I am getting enjoyment from it... that is all that matters.

Gamera vs. Gyaos, a review by Danae Cassandra

Gamera vs. Gyaos  (Daikaiju kuchusen: Gamera tai Gyaosu)
Year of Release: 1967
Directed By: Noriaki Yuasa
Starring: Kojiro Hongo, Reiko Kasahara, Taro Marui, Yoshio Kitahara
Genre: Science-Fiction, Disaster, Tokusatsu, Kaiju

Overview:
The third entry of this classic monster series continues when a volcanic eruption awakens Gyaos, a gigantic vampire-like bat who has a ravenous hunger for blood. Gyaos is Gamera's most popular foe, returning in four more films (not counting the stock footage in SUPER MONSTER). Can the fire-spitting terrapin Gamera defeat this nocturnal beast?

My Thoughts:
Gyaos has emerged from his cave! He is hungry! Humans are the perfect size for snacking! See him generate great wind with his wings! Witness his sonic scream cut through almost anything! Gamera is all that stands between Gyaos and humanity's snacktastic end!

One of the best of the Showa era Gamera films. Gyaos is a lot more frightening than the usual monsters of the era - after all, he's not just about rampaging damage. He eats people! And seems to have a genuine glee about it. He's also a pretty cool monster, and there's a bit of thought given to what the anatomy might have to be for his powers. The kid is a fairly annoying character, but aside from him this is a pretty fun kaiju film.

Bechdel Test: Fail

Overall: 3/5

The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ Doena

Babylon 5

What's the show about?
It's about Babylon 5. ;) About the people that lived, loved, fought and died there. Babylon 5 is a human-built space station oribiting an (presumably) uninhabited planet in neutral territory. It's a port of call and a place to come together, to negotiate, to keep the peace in the galaxy. But in this it failed. Instead, it becomes the last, best hope for victory against an ancient and very powerful enemy.

"The Gathering"
A human space station called Babylon 5 was built in neutral terrritory between several star empires including the Minbari Federation, the Narn Empire, the Centauri Republic and the Earth Alliance. The construction finished ten years after the Earth-Minbar war where the Minbari nearly annihilated the humans but then surrenderd on the eve of victory. Now the station is complete to prevent such wars and every race sends an ambassador including the mysterious race called the Vorlons. But when the Vorlon ambassador Kosh arrives he is attacked and things get out of hands.

My Opinion
My marathon.
Babylon 5 is one of my top-favourite Sci-Fi TV shows. It has a great story arc and superb characters.
