The Fly (1958), a review by addicted2dvd
Stars:Plot: When a scientist (David [Al] Hedison) attempts to transfer matter through space, things go horrifically wrong and two grotesque man-fly hybrids are created. Now, with the head of a fly and a wing in place of one of his arms, the scientist desperately hopes that he, his wife (Patricia Owens) and his brother (Vincent Price) can capture the other mutant and reverse the experiment. My Thoughts: As many of times I have watched this oneI keep forgetting it is in color, I could have sworn this film was in black and white. One of my favorite Vincent Price movies. I always liked the story and the way it was told. Vincent Price actually had a limited role on this movie... but he did an awesome job while he was on. This film was later remade. In this case I definitely much prefer this version (even though I did like the remake as well). Rating: (From That Time of Year Again: Halloween/Horror Reviews 2018! on October 7th, 2018) Two Moon Junction, a review by addicted2dvdTwo Moon Junction Sparks ignite into flames of passion when a socialite meets a sensual stranger in Two Moon Junction, an erotic adult drama from director Zalman King (Nine 1/2 Weeks, TV's "Red Shoe Diaries") that features "some of the steamiest sex scenes this side of an X rating" (David Sheehan, KNBC). Sherilyn Fenn (Boxing Helena) stars as April DeLongpre, a beautiful southern debutante who's about to marry a handsome man as priveleged as she. But stirring within the refined April is a raging sexual desire that erupts when she locks eyes with Perry (Richard Tyson, There's Something About Mary), a rough-hewn, muscle-bound carnival worker. Drawn together in an erotically-charged confrontation of wills, they embark on a journey of unquenchable desire that will change their lives forever. My Thoughts: This is one of the movies a friend of mine sent me while cleaning out here DVD Collection of movies she no longer wanted. It is ok for what it is I guess... but for the most part I found the story boring. Sure... it has it's share of sex... but in my opinion it takes more then that to make a good movie. Extras: Animated Storyboards Commentary Photo Gallery 'The Weird Al Show Theme' Karaoke Trailers My Thoughts: This one is hard to rate. Obviously made for children but I think a lot of the jokes are beyond their heads. And as a kid's show it is sometimes hard to watch as an adult. I watched it with the mindset that it tries to lampoon average kid shows and then it's often quite fun to watch Interesting to listen to are the commentaries by Weird Al and company on each episode. Like they said on the first commentary track, these recording sessions are like a therapy session for them . According to them they had a hard time making a show they want and to fullfill the networks requirements to make this a kid's show. Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on March 24th, 2008) |
