The Langoliers, a review by addicted2dvd

The Langoliers
Something bizarre has happened aboard flight #29...a nightmare so chilling, so frightening, so unrelenting it could only come from the mind of Stephen King. Now the master storyteller of our time gives terror a new name in THE LANGOLIERS. A jet leaves on a red-eye flight from Los Angeles to Boston. But early in the flight, ten passengers awaken to a startling realization: All of the other passengers have vanished - and the ground below is only...ground. But once they manage to land the plane, the situation doesn't improve. No one is there...the air is still...the clocks have stopped...and a dread, evil presence bent on their destruction is headed straight for them. Based on the novella from the best-selling anthology 'Four Past Midnight', Patricia Wettig ('City Slickers II'), Bronson Pincho ('Beverly Hills Cop'), Dean Stockwell ('The Player') and David Morse ('The Getaway') stare into the jaws of oblivion in this nightmare from the mind of Stephen King.

My Thoughts:
This is a 3 hour Stephen King miniseries. It has a rather bleak look at time travel. Bronson Pincho's character Mr. Toomy is really off. And what is with that tearing of paper? It was almost like he was enjoying that a little too much... if you know what I mean. This is not one of my favorite King miniseries... though it has it's moments. Juast average... maybe slightly above average.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

My Thoughts:

Tonight was my pick and so I chose a movie that has been one of the most talked about at my work in recent months.

Great action and suspense with stellar performances by Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. You are meant to cheer for the anti-hero but midway through Butler's character crosses a line and you no longer feel so sorry for him.... that I wasn't expecting and made for an unexpected twist.

The blabber mouths at work talked endlessly about the shocking kill scene so I knew about it, saw it coming... and jumped anyway! Sweet!

The movie raises an interesting question that I'm sure everyone has asked themselves at some point. What lengths would you go to to get back at those who harm your loved ones?? While I certainly don't possess the ingenuity displayed in Law Abiding Citizen, I'd like to think the end result would be the same.

While I think this movie was very good I think it just misses out on being great which would have been achieved had Butler's character been allowed to carry out his final act.  This was edgy, thrilling and intense but it failed to deliver the knockout punch.

Smallville Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 8: Disc 3

9. ABYSS
Memory purge. Clark seeks JOR-EL'S help as BRAINIAC progressively wipes Chloe's memories and replaces them with Kryptonian code. Jor-El assists...and offers an ominous forecast about what's to come.

My Thoughts:
A good episode. I enjoyed most all of it. There is one part I didn't care for... even though I know it don't last long and know that it makes the story more interesting... but I didn't care for Clark deciding not to let Chloe remember about his abilities and Krypton.

My Rating:

10. BRIDE

My Thoughts:
In this episode we get our first glimps of Doomsday. We also find out a little something about Lex as well. And we see a familiar face come to Chloe and Jimmy's wedding. It is a good episode. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

My Rating:

11. LEGION

My Thoughts:
This episode I really enjoyed. As I have said before I love when other superheroes arrive in smallville. And even though I am no familiar with any of the ones in this episode... it was still a lot of fun to watch.
