Moonraker, a review by Dragonfire

I'm trying to get caught back up here.

James Bond blasts into orbit in this pulse-pounding adventure that takes him from Venice to Rio de Janeiro and to outer space! Roger Moore stars for the fourth time as Agent 007 and joins forces with NASA scientist Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles) to prevent a power-mad industrialist (Michael Lonsdale) from destroying all human life on Earth.

My Thoughts

I first saw this movie years ago and I think it was actually one of the first Bond movies I did see.  That's probably why I like it more than other people.  The plot didn't bother me that much since space exploration had been going on for a while when the movie came out and the space shuttle was really being designed at that point.  It does seem like it was a blatant attempt to make the movie more relevant.  The plot is interesting and not any more far fetched than many of the other Bond movies for the most part.  Things went too far once the shuttles were in space and there was a laser battle.  The effects for that didn't look that great either.  I did like that Jaws was back.  It did get ridiculous how he kept surviving so many things that should have killed him or at the least really hurt him.  James was back to romancing several women, including Dr. Holly Goodhead who wasn't that believable as a scientist or NASA trained astronaut.  There wasn't anything special about any of the women in this movie.

Overall, I like this movie, though I know it has some issues.  I still need to watch all the extras on my DVD, though I have started working on a review to post on Epinions eventually.

Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones, a review by dfmorgan

Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones

A part of

Star Wars: The Complete Saga

Year: 2002
Director: George Lucas
Cast: Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen
Overview: The STAR WARS saga continues on DVD with Episode II ATTACK OF THE CLONES. Anakin Skywalker has grown into an accomplished Jedi apprentice, and he faces his most difficult challenge yet as he must chose between his Jedi duty and forbidden love. Relive the adventure the way it was meant to be seen in spectacular digital clarity, including the climactic Clone War battle and Jedi Master Yoda in the ultimate lightsaber duel.

Watched: 1st. Oct 2011
My Thoughts: As I said in my review of A Phantom Menace I haven't watched the prequels as much as the originals so cannot really state whether there are any modifications to this film. Whilst enjoyable it doesn't come up to the levels of enjoyment I get with the original trilogy. I have to say though that it was a good film in continuing the character and plot development to give the setting and basis for the original trilogy.

My Rating: It was a tad more enjoyable then SW1:APM but still less than the originals so a 4- -

"Stargate SG-1" Marathon, a review by DJ Doena

Disc 4

Collateral Damage
Synopsis: The Galarans have developed a device that can implant memories. This could become an easy way to train new pilots in a matter of weeks. But then Mitchell is accused of murder and he can remember doing it. Due to his immunity there will be no trial but he insists on clearing his name.

My Opinion: It was nice to learn something about Cameron's background an his life before the Antarctica battle. And they made me suspect the wrong person. But the Galarans made the wrong choice at the end of the episode. If I can avoid being punished just because I can't remember what I did - what would stop me of doing it again and make me forget again?

Ripple Effect
Synopsis: SG-1 returns from a mission but in the debriefing they insist that Selmak is still alive. But then SG-1 returns from a mission. And another SG-1 returns from a mission. And another SG-1...

My Opinion: Great episode. I liked it a lot, especially to see some characters again (Martouf, Dr. Frasier). I also liked the Asgard, he (she?) was really funny. Too bad, they didn't make an expanded version of the episode, with all the materials they had to cut out.

Stronghold
Synopsis: Strange things happen within the Jaffa High Council. A motion for more democracy is voted down by members who have been in favour of it just recently. Teal'c wants to get to the bottom of things and disappears.
Meanwhile an old friend of Cameron's who should have been on the F-302 program is dying and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

My Opinion: A very emotional episode which I also liked. Both parts of the story worked very well. I even had to admit that Ba'al may have a point when he proposed his plan to Teal'c.
