Night Club, a review by Jimmy

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: Night Club (1990)

Genre: Drama
Director: Michael Keusch
Rating: R
Length: 1h21
Video: Widescreen
Audio: English
Subtitles: None

Stars:
Nicholas Hoppe
Elizabeth Kaitan
Ed Trotta
Peter Jurasik
Deborah Tilton

Plot:
A young married couple try to convert an old warehouse into a nightclub, but face opposition from both the council and local mobsters.

My Thoughts:
Complete waste of time... Badly written and badly act, just a vanity project from Hoppe who had written and produced this so-called film. Not surprisingly he had never written, produced or acted in anything else after that. The only saving grace of this movie is Elizabeth Kaitan, I've never understood why she didn't had a better career. She can act, she can do more than play the stupid blonde and she is really beautifull. Sadly she had always appeared in bad movies like this one, the Vice Academy serie, Assault of the Killer Bimbos or Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2.

I sure don't feel lucky with my non xxx viewing recently. Pass this one, the boxset cost maybe less than 10$ but I haven't seen a good movie in it after watching half of it.

13 Ghosts, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: 13 Ghosts
Movie Count: 83
TV Ep Count: 31
Time Started: 8:30am
Plot:
It's 13 GHOSTS, a ghoulish fright-fest from producer/director William Castle. When an eccentric uncle wills a huge, ramshackle house to Cyrus (Donald Woods) and his impoverished family, they get the shock of a lifetime. Their new residence comes complete with a spooky housekeeper, Elaine (Margaret Hamilton), plus a fortune in buried treasure and 12 horrifying ghosts. As the terrified family soon discovers, these haunting ectoplasms include a decapitated man, a wailing lady and a flaming skeleton, who are held captive in the eerie house and must find an unlucky 13th to free them! Who'll be the final victim of these ghostly shenanigans?

'See for yourself-if you dare!'

My Thoughts:
Classic horror from the great William Castle. This is a good story... though like most classic horror those that are used to or prefer the modern horror movies will find this one is not much compared to today's horror... but held in it's own right is a very good movie. I've recently (within the last handful of years) that classic horror has a lot to offer the true movie fan. I am now trying to raise my daughter to be a true fan of movies... and all the time watching classic black and white movies with her. As I did with this movie... since she is home from school today we watched this together... and both enjoyed it very much.

Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvd

Highway to Heaven
Jonathan Smith isn't your average helpful handyman. He's an angel with a mission from God, or "the Boss" as he likes to call him. Accompanied by ex-cop Mark Gordon, whose troubled life Jonathan once helped turn around, he travels the world, guiding the lost and suffering back toward the HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN.

Whether helping a young boxer pressured to throw a fight or a veteran's Eurasian daughter feel welcome in America, Jonathan finds a way to bring a little grace and love into the lives of those he touches. And when necessary, he helps things along with a little angel power.

Starring Michael Landon and Victor French, all 24 uplifting episodes from the first season of this family favorite are now available on DVD for the first time.

Highway to Heaven (Part 1)
Working as the new handyman at a retirement home, Jonathon brings pep and vigor into the dreary lives of its residents. However, a nurse's brother, Mark Gordon, doesn't trust the newcomer.

Highway to Heaven (Part 2)
With the retirement home on the verge of ruin, Jonathon reveals his true identity to Mark. It will take some heavenly high jinks to save the day.

My Thoughts:
Another show that I used to always enjoy back in the day.  A kind series... and this show is my favorite work of Micheal Landon's. Yes I always preferred this over Little House on the Prairie. The 2 part pilot is a very good introduction to the 2 main characters of the series. Not only is this a warm and touching drama... it also offers some laughs. One of my favorite scenes in the pilot is where Jonathon (the angel) sees Mark (his soon to be friend) getting beat up in the alley behind the bar. When he runs over to help.... he gets a right cross. Of course it don't effect him... he just looks at the guy and smiles. So then he is hit with a left cross. And to this his reaction is to pick the guy up into the air... look him in the face and say "I turned the other cheek"... and then throws him far across the alley.  So yes... this series does have some fun in it as well. Unfortunately I only have the first season at this point... but I would love to get some more season sets of this show.
