R.L. Stein's Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It, a review by addicted2dvd

Father/Daughter Marathon Review
R.L. Stein
This weekend my daughter Brittany and I decided to watch some of her DVDs... something we could both enjoy. So we decided to watch some of the DVDs we have that were created by R.L. Stein. The creator of such material as Goosebumps and The Nightmare Room. Like the "Secrets of Isis" review we did before... you will get to see both Brittany's and my thoughts on each show we watched. So... this weekend we watched...

R.L. Stein's Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It
For 13-year-old goth girl Cassie, fitting into a new school and neighborhood isn't easy, but she entertains herself by playing pranks on the "popular" kids and her little brother, Max. As Halloween approaches, Cassie's search for scares leads her to a mysterious Halloween store and an unusual book called The Evil Thing. When Max begs her to read the book to him, Cassie finally gives in, ignoring the warning "Do Not Read Aloud." But it's when they get to the last page of the book and its clear warning about the Evil Thing - "Don't Think About It" - that the spooky adventure really begins.

Starring Emily Osment and Cody Linley of Hannah Montana, Brittany Elizabeth Curran of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and the quintessential movie villain, SAW's Tobin Bell, R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It is sure to put a shiver in your spine!

Brittany's Thoughts:
I for one loved this movie. I have been reading  R. L. Stein's books since I was little. Now the stories keep getting better and better. I was really surprised when I heard that he wrote all of those Goosebumps books and he doesn't know how to type and he does it all with only one finger!!! I found this out by watching the interview with him on this DVD.

My Thoughts:
This is a cute Halloween movie that is fun for the whole family. Not something to watch if you are looking for something actually scary... but a good way to spend Halloween night with your kids. I know that Britt and I will be watching it every year now. I also liked the fact that Tobin Bell is in it... I really liked him in the Saw movies. I must say.. I did get a kick out of the young boy (Cassie's brother).. he was such a scaredy-cat... I think the boy was even afraid of his own shadow.

Dead Birds, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Dead Birds
Movie Count: 43
TV Ep Count: 8
Time Started: 6:30pm
Plot:
When a group of criminals on the run after a bank robbery during the Civil War take refuge in an abandoned house they have no idea what evil they have come upon. Isolated and presumed deserted, the house is anything but safe...

As the night wears on and a thunderstorm grows outside, each member of the group begins to have visions of the atrocities that occurred within the house, haunting it forever. Voices in the well, visions of mangled bodies and clawing under the stairs plague their waking hours. As the fear in the group begins to grow and the supernatural forces in the house start to manifest themselves, the group turn on each other and exact the wrath of the souls trapped within the walls.

My Thoughts:
This is another one I bought sight unseen for this month's marathon. This one I liked a lot! I felt it was very well done... it had a good atmosphere... a few good jump scenes... and a bit of gore all mixed together. And it worked well for it. I didn't know what to expect going into this one... but was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be willing to recommend this one to friends and family.

My Rating
Out of a Possible 5

:yahoo:Woohoo! I have now made it past the half-way point of my movie goal for this year! (85 movies) And today is only the 11th! :yahoo:

Grey's Anatomy Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

16. It's the End of the World

My Thoughts:
This is part one of an outstanding two part episode. Definitely one of my favorites of the 2 seasons I have seen of this show so far. It is a very powerful and emotional episode.

My Rating:

17. As We Know it
A dangerous situation escalates despite the hospital's "code black" and the local bomb squad's determined efforts. Meredith must team up with the bomb squad while Derek performs an intense surgery under excruciating conditions.

My Thoughts:
This is second part is just as powerful and emotional as the first. It really was a great continuation of the storyline. The paramedic that had her hand in the patient holding the unexploded missile looked very familiar to me... but I was really drawing a blank. Then I felt like a total idiot when I looked in DVDP to discover it was Christina Ricci that I didn't recognize! How is that even possible? Sit there watching her for 2 episodes and never realizing who it was. Unbelievable!

My Rating:

18. Yesterday
A visitor from the past, Dr. Mark Sloan (Eric Dane), stirs up Derek and Addison's lives, while Meredith explores her family's dirty laundry and Cristina's secret makes its way to Burke.

My Thoughts:
This is a good episode with some interesting cases...including a woman that has spontaneous orgasms and a teen boy with bony tumors in his skull making him look somewhat disfigured. As he put it he looked like he had the face of a lion. And then the doctor that Addison cheated on Derek shows up in the hospital.

My Rating:

19. What Have I Done to Deserve This?

My Thoughts:
Pretty much a standard filler episode case wise... but there is advancements in the drama of their personal lives. It is good to see Denny back... as I always liked that storyline.

My Rating:

20. Band-Aid Covers the Bullet Hole
Izzie bails on Alex in favor of Denny as Meredith attempts to deal with the fallout from sleeping with George and Bailey attempts to circumvent maternity leave.

My Thoughts:
This one is more or less just a continuation of the last episode. So it is a pretty standard episode with nothing big happening in the hospital... and is putting the storyline more to the private lives of the patients.

My Rating:
