Plot:
All alone in paris and all alone in the world. Naturally all Sanjana's Love focused on the one person she can call her own - her fiancee Rahul. And then out of the blue. Rahul - on a business trip to India - calls up Sanjana to tell her he's found someone else. He no longer loves her. Sanjana is shattered but determined to win him back. With this firm resolves in mind she files down to India.
On the flight she meets a charming young man Shekhar. What she doesn't realise is that Shekhar is a crooked, a jewel thief who's stolen a valuable Diamond Necklace. Knowing that the police are watching out for him at the airport, Shekhar does the unexpected. He hides the necklace in Sanjana's luggage. And so begins Pyar To Hona Hi Tha. With a desperate Sanjana running after Rahul to win him back. And an even more desperate Shekhar running after Sanjana to get his necklace back. A crazy, wonderful journey that takes Sanjana and Shekhar from the Neon lit streets of the city to the rustic charms of village. A journey that brings about laughter and tears; adventure and heart-break; sacrifice and realisation.

This is a Bollywood remake of Meg Ryan's "French Kiss". I haven't seen "French Kiss" for ages (I will have to get the DVD soon), but as far as I remember the basic plot is identical, though I think the ending is different.
I bought this movie because of Kajol. Sadly she doesn't make many movies anymore, so I am looking to get my hands on some of her old stuff. She makes this movie fun to watch, even though the picture quality is not the best. What is great about her is that she can play serious scenes just as good as silly scenes. The role of Kevin Kline's character is played by Ajay Devgan, whom Kajol married one year after they made this movie.

While searching for this movie on youtube, the first hit was a video with the full movie. Maybe someone is interested to check it out. Though be warned, that the Bollywood movies of that period cannot compete with Hollywood movies in regards of production values. But as a study how an American movie transfers to Bollywood it is interesting to watch. Or you are a fan of Kajol like me

Zulu Dawn



This dramatic and true story recounts the breathtaking defeat of British forces at the hands of a 25,000 strong and relentlessly determined Zulu army in 1879. General Lord Chelmsford is the man responsible for the fatal decision that leads to the massacre. Colonel Durnford is the military hero who courageously faces the Zulu army, outnumbered sixteen to one, he leads his men into battle and certain death.

The all-star cast, and extravagant production qualities make ZULU DAWN a spectacular film. Vibrantly rich and alive with passion and bravery, this truly thirlling sequel to the legendary ZULU has a guaranteed place in the list of Hollywood Greats.

Being a massive fan of the original 1964 epic Zulu, I was disappointed when I first watched the sequel on TV some years ago. I gave this dvd a run-out for a 2nd watch to see if my feelings had improved on the film. Definately missing the original writing and direction of Cy Endfield, and coming out some 15 years after the original, it sadly does not compare.
The war scenes are still realistic and at times gripping, but the characterisation and officer conflicts that so appealed in Zulu are sadly lacking in the sequel. Burt Lancaster (has he ever been able to act?) is shocking with possibly the worst Irish accent I've ever heard, Bob Hoskins totally wasted, and O'Toole looking distinctly hungover and uncomfortable in the role.
It is 'spot the star' of a considerably renowned cast (I'm sure I spotted Danny Glover although he isn't credited) as they blunder towards the massacre of Isandhlwana, the bloody aftermath of which opened this film's more infamous predecessor.

Smallville Marathon #2, a review by DJ Doena

Synopsis: After she's called out to him, Clark uses Kara's crystal to create a copy of his mother. But he also unknowingly creates a copy of Zor-El. Zor-El wants to create a new Krypton and for that he has to purge mankind from the face of the Earth. And he tricks Clark into accepting blue Kryptonite and suddenly he is mortal again.

My Opinion:Synopsis: Clark is back from the Fortress where his father held him since the struggle against Zor-El. He joins forces with Lana to bring Lex to justice. Meanwhile someone threatens to blow up Chloe if Lois doesn't write an article about a man who is somehow connected to both Lex and the "Daily Planet"'s editor.

My Opinion: Lex must be a really desperate man to pull a stunt like this. And once again he managed to alienate the person he cares about. But I loved to see Chloe and Jimmy back together, yet I am worried about the look in his eyes when he learned the truth about her being a meteor freak.

Synopsis: Clark has never returned from the Fortress but instead Bizarro has taken his place and he tries to find a means of protection from the yellow sun. For this he seeks out Brainiac who is still very weak but its mental capabilities are completely unaffected. He points him to a Kryptonian who's been living on Earth for more than a hundred years and who might be able to help Bizarro. But when "Jor-El" learns of Bizarro's return he releases his son.

My Opinion: I have to admit, I didn't see that coming. Clark has had so many changes of heart that I didn't see through it when he teamed up with Lana in the previous episode. And I think it was a great idea not to reveal in the previous episode that Clark wasn't Clark. I also liked to see Brainiac again.
Now I am waiting for Gene Hackman to make a "Special Guest Star" appearance. I mean, everyone else has had a guest appearance, with Helen Slater (Kara/Supergirl in Supergirl) as Lara in two episodes of this season and now even Marc McClure as Dax-Ur, who played Jimmy Olsen in the Superman/Supergirl movies.
