Babel, a review by Silence_of_Lambs

Babel

Summary:
4 interlocking stories all connected by a single gun all converge at the end and reveal a complex and tragic story of the lives of humanity around the world and how we truly aren't all that different.

My Thoughts:
I shied away from this movie for quite some time, simply because it was so highly praised by the critics, that I thought there has to be something wrong with it ...

... well, there isn't.
This movie is a masterpiece and might as well work as the definition of how an episode movie has to be. It works with time-shifts that are not confusing, builds up the required tension while taking the needed time to develop the story as well as the characters. And it does this so virtuously that you'd like to press the replay-button immediately, not because there would be any open questions, but because of the elegance of the plot and the beauty of the cinematography.

Great one ... and from now on on my "rewatch frequently"-list.

My Rating: (out of possible 5)

My Thoughts:
Before watching this movie I found the trailer online to watch. And let me tell you t didn't make me to confident in the movie. They turned it much more towards comedy then they did horror. Now I normally enjoy a good comedy horror... but I don't like it that they went from a straight horror and then turned comedic with a sequel. But the problem is that the comedy in it is just not funny. It just makes you want to shake your head in disapproval. I wouldn't say I didn't get any entertainment value out of it... but it is definitely not good. I am however glad that I heard the next part is better then this one. I am really not counting on it... but I sure hope so!

"Due South" marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Victoria's Secret - Part 1

as was said... this one is more on the side of drama then comedy... though as noted there is some. And I don't know if I am just getting used to it... or what other people has said of the situation changing my mind... but I really didn't mind Fraser's father in this episode. I did definitely have to laugh at the hat thing. I wish we got to find out for sure who shot the wolf... I hope I am wrong but I have a bad feeling it was Victoria. Also this episode is a little longer then the normal... clocking in at 53 minutes. I wonder if part 2 will be longer then usual as well.
