Dumb and Dumber, a review by samuelrichardscott

Dumb and Dumber (1994) R2 United Kingdom

Overview:
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are too lame to live--and too dense to die--as a pair of deliriously dim-witted pals on a cross-country road trip to return a briefcase full of cash to its rightful owner. Along the way they'll confound cops, kidnappers and anyone and everyone who had the misfortune of crossing their paths in this comic caper for every idiot in the family!

My Thoughts:
When it comes to Jim Carrey movies, I am neither a lover nor a hater. He is a good enough comic actor who has been in some above average funny movies like The Mask and Ace Ventura, both of which make use of his 'rubber face crazy' humour and of course the slightly less crazy but equally as fun movies Liar Liar and Yes Man. However for me, it's his offbeat films I really enjoy with my two favourites being the phenomenal Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and the criminally underrated The Cable Guy. Unfortunately, for me at least, Dumb and Dumber is an overrated movie that tries too hard and ultimately fails. Despite a reasonably half decent 'plot' for a comedy, the laughs come far to slowly (and I'm a fan of the Farrelly Brothers) and I laughed once during the entire movie (when Lauren Holly gets taken out by a snowball from about 2 feet away). I know I'll get some flack for this one but I've never seen the charm. Skip it. 1.5/5

The Duel at Silver Creek, a review by Rogmeister

The Duel at Silver Creek (1952)  77m
Director: Don Siegel
Cast: Audie Murphy, Faith Domergue, Stephen McNally, Gerald Mohr, Susan Cabot, Lee Marvin

Hey, this movie came out the year I was born...this DVD has a terrific-looking print of this 58-year old movie, though it has no extras apart from the theatrical trailer.  The movie deals with a large group of claim jumpers who force miners to give up deeds to their claims...and often repay them by killing them.  Audie Murphy plays a young man whose father is killed...he winds up the deputy of the fast-drawing sheriff.  The action is fast and furious in this oater filled with gunplay and horse chases.  For some reason, most of the main cast members have nickhames...Audie is The Silver Kid, the sheriff is known as Lightning, a couple of the bad guys are Rat Face and Johnny Sombrero and the girls are referred to as Dusty and Brown Eyes.  One fly in the ointment for the good guys is the marshal has suffered a wound and can no longer pull the trigger on his six-gun with his good hand.  Of course, you know the good guys are going to prevail...right?   ;D

Smallville Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Kathy...
Everything seems to be working fine now... maybe the site was down for a bit. Can you see it ok now?

DJ Doena...
I agree with what you said.. but never really bothered me all that much for some reason.

Season 2: Disc 1:

EPISODE 1: VORTEX
Is it the powerful wind that lifts Clark during a dramatic airborne rescue of Lana? Or does Clark tap into an unknown super power? A snoopy reporter meets a sudden end... and a certain secret dies with him.

My Thoughts:
This was a really good continuation of last season's cliffhanger. I thought it was pretty cool that Lex is the one that saved Clark's father... of course at this point there is still some good in Lex.

EPISODE 2: HEAT
Clark's emerging power of heat vision may be too hot to handle - it's triggered by thoughts of sex! He'll need to cool his jets to thwart an alluring new biology teacher who has an overwhelming power over men.

My Thoughts:
Another of my favorite episodes... Clark gets his Heat Vision. The teacher/Freak of the Week was played by the beautiful Krista Allen. Surprisingly When I looked in my Profiler I actually have very little with her in it.

EPISODE 3: DUPLICITY
Clark reveals his secret to his best friend after Pete discovers the spaceship. But knowing the truth makes Pete more than a participant in Clark's adventures: it also puts him in harm's way.

My Thoughts:
This is actually another of my favorite episodes. When he tells his best friend Pete Ross the truth about himself.... At the time of this show aired I thought it was a cool thing... that he needs someone he can trust and talk to about everything... and I think Pete Ross was perfect for this. Of course as was stated... as the years went one... more and more people found out... some of which either died or they used the old forget everything on. But I think at this point it really felt right for him to tell Pete.

EPISODE 4: RED
Lana is attracted to a leather-wearing biker dude who attends Smallville High. The guy's name: Clark Kent! He's undergone a dangerous transformation, and Pete and Jonathan are scrambling to discover why.

My Thoughts:
OK... I wouldn't say this is a favorite of mine... but is absolutely one I really enjoyed.Seeing the effects of Red Kryptonite on him. .. and I think Tom Welling did an awesome job with it. I actually know a couple female friends that watches the show... and prefers Clark with the Red Kryptonite.
