The Emperor's New Groove, a review by addicted2comicsTitle: The Emperor's New Groove Year: 2000 Director: Mark Dindal Rating: G Length: 78 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.66:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: DTS: 5.1, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: English Stars: David Spade John Goodman (1952) Eartha Kitt Patrick Warburton Wendie Malick Eli Russell Linnetz Plot:Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Production Notes Interactive Games Music Videos DVD-ROM Content Closed Captioned THX My Thoughts: It was just as fun as I remembered it. All I can say, really, is that it was alot better than the series. Although, John Goodman being Pacha was odd for me, cuz every time I hear Pacha, I hear Dan Connor. Still a cool story about an arrogent emporor with a heart.......somewhere. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Doing the ABC's Movie Style!! on July 12th, 2010) A Christmas Carol, a review by Danae CassandraA Christmas Carol Year of Release: 1999 Directed By: David Jones Starring: Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Joel Grey, Ian McNeice Genre: Drama Overview: Patrick Stewart (X-Men, Star Trek: The Next Generation) stars as Scrooge, the mean-spirited miser who gets his terrifying comeuppance when he imagines he's visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, and taken on a life-altering journey. Spellbinding special effects, a star-studded cast, and a timeless holiday story make this brilliant presentation of Dickens' classic the most heartwarming, compelling and powerful adaptation ever filmed. My Thoughts: This is as fine an adaptation of A Christmas Carol as any in this old world. If I still prefer the 1951 Alaister Sim version, this is my second favorite. Patrick Stewart is an excellent Scrooge, and I actually prefer the Cratchets here over the '51. The ghosts are very well done, and the story adapts closely. I'd have liked to see more of Scrooge's relationship with Fran, since her death is so crucial in his story. Still such a good retelling of this familiar tale, very much worth the time put in to watch it. This was a wonderful breath of fresh air after the exceedingly mediocre Magoo Christmas Carol we watched earlier in the month. Still falls a bit shy next to Sim's. It might be the nostalgia of Sim's version, since that was the one we used to watch on TV when I was a kid. I really need to watch them both back to back. I also really wish I had this on blu-ray. Plot: Aoi was raised as a normal boy on Earth. Little did he know he was the heir apparent to Mito, the Queen turned Space Pirate of an alien race that chooses their sex at puberty. Aoi fell in love with Mutsuki, the policewoman who was chasing Mito, and the three of them saved the Universe. The only side effect was that Aoi had blossomed into a beautiful young woman. Now a malevolent entity calling herself the true Queen of the Universe appears with enough power to destroy entire planets. Aoi must defend her new throne, but she needs Mutsuki's help. Mutsuki must come to terms with her own feelings for Aoi so they can defend Earth together and become the galaxy's first royal pair of queens. Mito no Daiboken: Futari no Jou-sama 1.01 The Queen Has Risen! Writer: Fumihiko Shimo (Screenwriter) Director: Takashi Watanabe Cast: Tomoko Kawakami (Mito (voice)), Soichiro Hoshi (Aoi Mitsukuni (voice)), Kyoko Tsuruno (Mutsuki Nenga (voice)), Yumiko Kobayashi (Masatsuki Nenga (voice)), Sakiko Tamagawa (Sobo (voice)), Motoko Kumai (Sabu (voice)), Yuu Asakawa (Shin (voice)), Omi Minami (Kafuko (voice)), Machiko Toyoshima (Miyako Okubo (voice)), Takayuki Okada (Tendo (voice)), Masashi Yabe (Sega (voice)), Chiemi Chiba (Konami (voice)), Sayaka Ohara (Hiroko (voice)), Mikako Takahashi (Azuki (voice)), Saori Higashi (Ota (voice)), Ayako Kurasaki (Shizumi (voice)), Takayasu Usui (Nandabu (voice)), Taro Masuoka (Nibaul (voice)), Hidenari Ugaki (Kishu (voice)), Takuma Suzuki (Owari (voice)), Hideyuki Hori (Lanvan (voice)), Kazuhiko Inoue (Kagero Mitsukuni (voice)) This series is a sequel to another series, which I haven't seen. At the end of that series, one of the characters is transformed into a girl. This series now is about that character and also his relationship with a girl, which I think was his love interest in the first series. So the premise sound interesting. But the series itself is boring, as it is mostly about some crazy and ridiculous stuff going on and not so much about the relationship. The best thing about it is the opening theme.
